Funny seeing all the same errors in grammar were never touched! Truly kept the book original. It would never be a best seller in today’s world but who really cares. A true classic! Review: Way misunderstood, under the radar novel--Spillane's multi-narrator masterpiece - In today's world we kill all the wild and free animals to make way for humans who are entitled to more jobs , more concrete and/or more food stamps and more children whom only the government can and should support-- government control a la socialism-- I get it. I get the pans that this novel received ---in this novel Spillane pushes a lot of moral high road , cities and overpopulation are wonderful, PC and where's my Mike Hammer? paradigm buttons: as literature , this work is better than 98% of the PC (pretentious cant?) written nowadays. The narrative description and voice are both brilliant in instances that redeem the other occasionally pulp mundane aspects. And why per se would a novel be ipso facto poorly written/unartful because wealth and bullets and dissembling allow a good guy to kick bad guy ass (consider Shakespeare and Homer here) ? Spillane was a careless genius --the likelihood of any such author getting again any kind of accolades in such an anthill as our "modern" bureaucratic self-righteous world? Slim. Spillane is an eagle among I-phones.

Classic Spillane
Very poor Kindle version, with lousy chapter breaks. The story was more crudely worded in some parts than most of Spillane's writings, but the characters are classic Mickey Spillane. Worth having in my collection, and fun to reread now and again.

Hard back cover like new
I already have a paper back copy of this book and it is falling apart. This new (to me) hard back copy is in like new condition. I enjoy Mickey Spillane's writing and this is one of his better stories. Arrived ahead of time and well packaged.

Enjoyed the book enough to read it twice
Not Spillane’s most commonly known style, but Spillane none the less. Enjoyed the book enough to read it twice. Pure pulp fiction. Well worth it.

Not one of his best
I was disappointed with this book. It took a long time to get started, and I wasn't sure where it was going. The motivation of the main characters didn't make sense until the very end. The dialogue was often murky. I held on until the end, but I think I wasted my time.

Another Page-Turner from Spillane.
This book has it all. Sex, Guns, murders and suspense. The plot has two great twists and will keep you looking for answers. It is a bit raw for a 1960 era mystery but is still enjoyable. Spillane not only lived New York, but his writing makes you feel like you are there and you can visualize the all the places the story takes you. Most of all this book will keep you up all night and into the morning.

I was disappointed there was no dust jacket, however the book was in reasonably good condition for its age but i was greatly surprised to find on opening the book a full page dedication including signature from Mickey Spillanes on the first page. Wonderful.

Decent story but fails to maintain suspense till the end the killer is easy to work out after approx the third of the story

The title says it all really. I struggled to follow the plot at times but frankly it was secondary to the bedroom action. All rather tongue in cheek but fun none the less.
