I purchased these to place on top and bottom of one of the two 2x4 framed doors I placed on my backyard shed. The post is nice and long, so it easily accommodated the gap I have between the door and the frame. There is an 'open' catch so you can keep the pin lifted up for the door to swing freely when not in use. Probably in the description, but I didn't remember that as a feature when I installed these, but very happy it is there. Because of how I framed the door, I needed one of the metal catches to be flat. The metal is pretty thick (well constructed!!) so I couldn't hammer it completely flat, but certainly flat enough--not disappointed at all in having to mod that or in how it turned out. Thee are well made and I can't see how they will fail any time soon--i anticipated *many* years of use, like they will likely outlive me. Easy to install. I did use some longer screws than those provided for greater holding power and since I had the thickness of 2x4s to work with, that is possible in my installation. The threads on the provided screws are wide/coarse so they are probably ample if you had to work in constraints of thinner material. Very happy and would purchase again.

Latch worked great to close a shed door that would only partially close with the locking latch. Great quality for the price. Should last a long time and keep my shed more secure.

These are very sturdy and easy to install. The screw holes were large enough for me to use the exterior screws I was already using to help anchor them in the studs of the chicken coop we're working on. I'm using them on the doors. They'll be easy for us to open and should outsmart the raccoons. Price was amazing. I can't find anything that sturdy in local stores.

This is a good, sturdy product, but is designed to work on a shed door, a fence gate or something large and heavy. I tried to use this to replace a barrel bolt on a piece of outdoor furniture and it was simply too much bolt for the job. Also wanted to use another of these on a screen door. Way too much bolt for that as well.

These little wonderful contraptions are a game changer for anyone that has problems with racoons getting into a locked chicken coop. They are very durable easy to use and so far stands up great to rain or anything that mother nature has thrown at them. They also seem to be rust resistant. The lock barrel is very thick the screw holes are a nicesize so.i can put a good size screw in for safety. Great value for the money also. I will definitely order again and keep these on hand.
