Cannot Recommend Chippewa Boots for Men with Wide Feet
I have a wide foot, not extremely wide, but a 9-EE with a high instep. My problem with Chippewa boots isn't the boot itself or it's construction. My problem involves the lasts that Chippewa uses to construct their boots. When selecting the size of Chippewa boot I should buy I did the best that I could, I ordered a size 9 Extra-Wide. When received, out of the box, I couldn't even put these boots on without extreme effort. After forcing one of my feet into the boot I instantly realized what the problems were. It was extremely narrow (width across little toe) and also extremely tight around my instep. The length was fine but everything else about the width and instep was a complete disaster. How does this happen? It happens because some manufacturers with non-USA factories contract the manufacture of the lasts to those same foreign factories without specifying such details such as actual width or the actual circumferences of the last at the little toe or the instep. They just assume that the foreign manufacturer knows how to make shoes and they most certainly do for Asian feet, but not for the typical USA wide foot. This is just plain ignorance and laziness on the part of Chippewa. I will NEVER buy another Chippewa boot again because I know there is absolutely no possibility that they manufacture a shoe or boot that will fit my feet. What are "lasts" you might ask? Lasts are the (sometimes wooden) forms that are carved and shaped for every foot size and every width. Ignorant, cheap and uncaring cobblers will manufacture one last for a given size that is spit down the middle so they can simply spread the right and left sides apart to approximate feet of various widths. This doesn't work very well because a wide size 9-EE foot is most commonly the same last as a size 11-D but shorter. When you have a size 9-EE like I do you eventually learn that some manufactures understand these things but many don't. Chippewa, unfortunately, doesn't.

Great for a wide foot! Wide is actually WIDE!
I'm gonna go with 5 stars because of the "overall" experience I've had with these. If you are like me then you have wide Donald Duck feet and need a wide boot or shoe. For boots around the $200 range there are very little options if you want a black boot. AdTec used to sell a great logger boot with a steal toe and in a wide. I ran that boot for years until I could not longer find it in all black.I came over to Chippewa years ago and have to say this is by far the easiest boot I have ever worn to break in. It takes less than a day and before you know it the boot feels great and your feet don't hurt. Having a wide foot I expect most boots to hurt for day or even weeks before feeling comfortable, but not with these.PROS:Great looking boot that is actually WIDE for those that need it.Break in period is very short and the boots become comfortable quickly. They look great and have a nice heel.CONS:The laces suck. I have owned enough of the boots over the years to know I will end up replacing the laces within 6 months. Even the cheap Walmart laces last longer as do many you can find on Amazon. These boots may not last as long as others depending on how much you work. I usually get up to 2 years on them before I am buying another. Sometimes I get 1.5 years, but I am in them all the time.FINAL THOUGHTS:I wish Chippewa would recognize the fact that their laces suck. One shouldn't have to put new laces on the boot within 6 months. Not when you pay around $200 for it. As you can see in the pic I provided, I am about to retire my 3rd pair of these boots for new ones in the box. I will keep buying these until I can no longer find them.

Best boot out there.
As a auto technician I have worn several different boots over the years. These are the best I have ever worn. Provide great comfort and support. They are insulated and built well. I hope they never stop making these boots.

Worth the high price for ppl that beat the hell out of their boots
This is my 3rd pair of these boots. I love them. The raised heal takes a little while to get used to and feels like you’re on high heels at first, but it really helps your back and you’re able to stay on your feet much longer without fatigue. You don’t notice it after a couple days. I wear my boots every day and beat the hell out of ‘em. They are water proof and that is tested daily with my job. Made very well and I usually get a year and a half to two years out of them and that’s with constant heavy use. Also, the rubber around the toe does not peel or rub away like some other boots. I will continue to buy these boots over and over again because of the durability, quality and comfort.

Expensive, but worth it
I absolutely love these boots. This is the third pair that I've owned, and I'll continue to buy them for as long as I can get them. They're a little on the expensive side, but they're very comfortable once they're broken, and very durable. My last pair survived for a little over 3 years with hard daily wear. How can you ask for more?
