So far so good
I mounted this on a 2006 EZGO to run offroad LED lights and stereo. I'm very pleased with its performance so far. It seems to handle a 20 inch light bar and smaller 8 inch lights no problem. I use the smaller lights for low beams and the lightbar for high beams. I did have issues with the stereo wanting to work at first which worked fine hooked directly to 12 volt source. After hitting the reset button on stereo a few times it works fine with no issues. I did wire the stereo constant hot to a constant 12 volt source to keep the clock and presets and that may have also helped with the stereo no wanting to work right. I think a lot of the issues people may be having with this item is hooking it up to a hot power source. I recommend wiring in before putting power to it and also mounting a kill switch so you can turn it off when not using cart. I would think leaving it powered 24-7 will shorten its life span.

Installed to 48vdc electric golf cart for optional 12vdc accessories.
Repairing electric golf cart for customer who indicated they want to run 12vdc party lights on cart. This dc/dc converter was the perfect choice for establishing 12vdc current from the carts 48vdc system. However I discovered during install when hooked directly to cart batteries, with main and tow switches turned off, that this unit is still drawing current which would've killed the carts batteries in short period of time. I've since ordered and will install a 48vdc/40amp automotive relay to use trigger power from tow switch to activate mechanical contact which will then complete the circuit and turn on/off this dc/dc convertor. As the tow switch must be turned on to operate the main key switch, it just makes sense to use this as the source power to trigger the relay. These golf carts already have a 20amp dc/dc converter from the factory to power the headlights and taillights but not much more. The additional 30amp dc/dc converter I'm adding will allow the customer to add extra 12vdc accessories of their choosing without interfering with the carts OEM system.

Great Product but needs a Relay switch to make everything work correctly
I used this for my ezgo electric golf cart so now all my accessories are drawing from all batteries. But still drains batteries even without using accessories so I added a Relay Switch to prevent the draining of the batteries so now when I turn the key on all accessories will then work.

Idle current
When I was searching for a 48V to 12V converter, I would have liked to know the idle current drawn by the product under no load conditions. Unfortunately, this spec is missing not only with this product but also with all of the competitor products I looked at. Since the spec is missing, I see that several people are going to the trouble of installing an external relay to completely disconnect the unit when not in use. So, to help others coming after me, here are the numbers. I measure 13.5 mA of current drawn from a 48 volt battery under zero load conditions. With a lithium 100Ah battery in my golf cart, that means that the converter would fully discharge the battery after 7400 hours. That's 308 days, so since I'm not planning to put my vehicle in long term storage, I won't be spending the time and money on an external disconnect relay.

Easy install
I am currently using this on my 48vdc e-bike to provide 12vdc to my headlight. It's working great . The case is metal so the unit runs cool. No issues at all.

great for our golf cart!
I tried to renew my golf cart,I bought LED light, amplifier, DVD, So I need some thing to step down voltage and connected the power. And this small one just perfect for me.I used it for change 36 or 48 v to voltage which just fit the electronics that I put in my cart. It can do to 12 or 18 or 20. Very good one. Just try it. Recommended!
