Bought at a great price, works fine
Great price, I've been watching this for some time & the price dropped...and droppedFinally bought it for $317 w/tax includedWorks great so far.. the only issue is that it takes 1.2 DAYS to resynchronize the drives if anything happensDuring that time if a drive fails you are in TroubleWill contact Asustor to see if there is a problem, one other Owner of this device sez his does not take that longI'd also like to see some way of numbering the drive trays

Not that fast really
I decided to move 8TB of movie data from my old external drive caddy to a new NAS device and purchased this make/model on recommendations.I have 4 x 2GB drives fitted and all works as it should. However I had to clear each drive backing up to a large drive in the PC before starting, as the Asustor storage wipes each drive when installed. Therefore over 4 drives I had to recopy each one to my PC then on to the NAS in turn. The speed on a full GB ethernet switch transfers only around 30 to 50MB/s with Cat 6a cabling. (around 24 hours in total for each drive).I found it quicker to transfer 2TB of movie data on to an external USB 2TB drive first from the PC, then plugged into the USB port on the ASUSTOR system, rather than a direct copy over the network. The network route took twice as long. The network is small with only a PC, this device and a broadband HUB fitted so the only traffic is between the PC and Asustor device.Play back is fast enough for a single movie, which is what the device is for. Therefore my comment is it needs a bigger buffer probably in terms of memory to cope.

Love of my life
Love of my life. A bit fiddly getting Plex to run on it, use a designated port forwarding to achieve this, but now works fine. Only criticism is the shallow instructions on some 3rd party apps not really explaining what they do, so some potential use of the NAS is by passed as too difficult or bewildering. A compact, quiet server that is on the whole easy to use.
