Well worth the investment. Sturdy and gives great results with little effort.
I had earlier purchased a large ‘Greek yogurt strainer’ to drain homemade yogurt which I made in half gallon batches. The mesh is attached to the back of the plastic ribbing, which makes it challenging to get all the yogurt out of the crevice’s where the mesh is fused to the outside of the basket frame. I like to make a fresh batch of Kefir which is enough for one person every day or two and didn’t want to mess with a strainer that holds a half gallon at a time and is a big pain to clean. I saw this item and while I liked the looks of it, I was pretty hesitant due to the price as I couldn’t examine it to assess its quality, nor really gauge from the photos in the listing how large the 1.4L version is. My photo shows it next to a half gallon Ball jar and a half gallon jug of milk and the basket/sleeve holds approximately 3 cups of Kefir. I really like the unique shape of the really substantial glass jar, as it fits much more securely in my hand than a straight sided jar does. The nylon mesh lines the *inside* of the draining basket frame, which makes it easy to hand wash as bits of Kefir/yogurt don’t get stuck. The clear plastic lid and the blue basket collar are sturdy, connect to each other and thread onto the jar. When you want a drier consistency cheese, after the whey has been draining for several hours just insert the presser pad with the spring secured between it and the lid, which applies gentle pressure by which more whey is pressed out of the cheese. When it reaches your preferred consistency, invert the basket over a plate and jiggle/lightly squeeze it and the cheese slides out. The glass is very thick and strong, and it even bested the Amazon warehouse gorillas. It was shipped in an Amazon box which was coming apart, as it contained other items and no padding between them, one of which weighs 14 pounds. The Kefirko box had been smashed open and flattened and all the components were strewn around in the box. But the glass was not even scratched and there was no damage except to the frame of the filter basket, which was dented. But after soaking it in boiling water for a couple of minutes, it straightened out and after using it once, the basket is no longer misshapen. The quality of design, materials and build are really very impressive. This item is in my opinion really worth the money as it can be used for Kefir and other cheeses; to turn regular yogurt into the consistency of Greek yogurt and it can be used with loose leaf teas, to steep coffee and more.

This is the best way to make great tasting Kifer cheese, and it’s easy and simple to use. It’s larger than it looks in the photo, and makes almost 2 full cups of cheese per day. I highly recommend this product!
