Brainstorm ID - 4.5" ID Card Laminator for Teslin ID Cards (ID-Lam 45)

As soon as this arrived & put through 25 cards in less than 5 minutes! It did perfect on all of them & it was done with 10 mil laminating pockets & laminating over card stock. The only thing I had to do was pull it out when it’s done as it didn’t automatically finish spitting it out. No complaints about that from me as I am right there anyway. I love this already but can’t attest yet to how long it lasts. I have several hundred to do so I will be finding out. I’m already pleased though!

I have been foiling stickers and have been looking for a budget laminators that has enough heat and pressure to foil (using a toner based printer with purpose-made foils). I looked at the Minc and it seems to have terrible reviews, so I I'm skipping out on it for now. This ID laminators seems to be the only laminator on Amazon under $50 that will do 10mil (which is what you need for foiling). Anyway after testing, this seems to do the trick! All my stickers are no more than 4.5" across, so the width is not a problem--in fact the small width is a bonus--wider rollers become uneven over time and don't offer the even, strong amount of pressure needed for foiling. Regarding the stickiness/jamming issue : I sandwich all of my stickers and foils between a teflon sheet (just search for "Teflon Sheet for Heat Press"), so this hasn't been an issue for me yet. Always make sure that there is NOTHING sticky, or that will become sticky when heated, or you WILL get a jam, and it is not a fun experience to fix. Regarding the heat issue, just make sure to always keep it OFF when you are not using it--and when you are using it, especially for prolonged periods, it helps to prop it up on both sides so that it can cool from the bottom. You can also point a fan at it while it's going. It's a laminator and gets hot, so this is an issue with nearly all inexpensive laminators. I will update this review after more experience but so far so good!

This thing should not even be advertised as an ID laminator. All it has done is ruin every single ID I have ran through it. This thing does not have the pressure or heat to seal a 7 or 10 mil card... A 3 mil laminate works perfectly fine though, but that's not the reason anyone is getting this specific unit. I would have expected much better from a shop focused on IDs.

Love the ease of use to laminate multiple sized things. Created laminated ID badges for work event; about 260, and it works perfectly. No bubbles at all. Heats up fast, fun and easy to use. Used it with Teslin 10ml laminated sheets. Love this little laminator!!!

This is more compact than the laminator that I am replacing with this one, so that's great. It laminates very well, I just wish it warmed up faster (hence the four stars). My old laminator warmed up more quickly.

Unfortunately after about the 3rd time using it the material got jammed in the machine and there is no easy way to try and clear it. A reverse switch would be a great help or a wider opening in the rear would help. As it is now its almost impossible for you to clean the rollers if such a mishap occurs. The stress on the motor was too much and the next time I turned it on it attempted to turn but it shut off after a few seconds never to move again, I was able to laminate about 15 pieces before it became a paper weight. Don't buy unless you have no other choice.

I have used it for about a year with no issues. Great for ID and luggage tags (used with 10 mil)

We purchased this as a second laminator for some badge requests we received (200 and 1000 badges), and it has become the preferred device for these requests. Even when taking breaks to let it cool and not overheat, it takes less than half of the time than before. Might even get another if we keep getting these requests.

Revived this product, plugged it in, turned it on and along with the smell which is normal and expected a spark/ poof of smoke came from one of the air vents along with crackling.

This little beauty performs quicly and feeds well

Total junk. Does not even power up. Looks like a used item. I am returning this right away

I've produced identification for the last 10 years and brainstorm id products have been a staple In doing so . I highly recommend this laminator it is one of the few that won't jam laminating cr80 thickness documents.

It’s a great little machine. I use this in my office and it’s great because it doesn’t take a lot space on my desk.
