Al Williamson Archives Volume 2

This book is filled with half finished sketches and roughs. In it you can study Williamson's skill at the human figure in action. The tilt of a hip, coiled legs about to spring, the action elements of comic art are easy to study in this nice selection from the sketch pad of a Comic Book Great.I also bought his X-9: Secret Agent Corrigan comic strip collection (vol 1) to compare the finished art with these sketches and see how the bare bones work in a story.

I should be angry that one man was gifted with so much talent, but I am instead grateful that the great Al Williamson, who I met several times, choose to share that talent with the world. He was also a truly generous and nice person. He always called himself "a fan first, and a comics pro second" and these lovely sketches and fully realized drawings of lizards, warriors, spacemen, and beautiful women fully demonstrates that.

Like my review for Volume 1, this book is not for everyone. It features mostly incomplete, rough sketches by Al. If you are a Williamson fan, then buy this book. If you are looking for polished works you will be dissapointed.

I never realized before how much Al studied body language. Without speech balloons you can just look at one of his figures and tell what their feeling or communicating. Maybe that’s why he’s considered to be such a master of figure drawing.

Not much in the way of text, although a very heartfelt and touching essay by the artist's son. The drawings in this collection are real gems. I derived such pleasure in perusing the pages of this book and the beautiful drawings, faithfully reproduced, right down to the yellowing of the paper and incidental torn pages.Really feels like your looking at the originals.

Interesting sketches and insight into the artist work. Worth securing for all Al Williams collectors. I love the detail lines and body representations.

Getting a peek into any sketchbook is a refreshing experience and when you get to glance through a master artist's sketchbook, the experience could be overwhelming. Mostly we always see the final artworks coloured and printed as as cover or a comic but rarely does one get to see the time spend after creating those beautiful images. This second volume has many such absolutely beautiful sketches by the master. It shows the effortless ease the artist commands over pencil and brush. It shows the beauty and balance in the rhythmic art created by mr williamson. Absolutely highly recommended for all art fans. Its one of the best sketchbooks you could ever own.

Pur essendo piacevole e interessante da sfogliare è sicuramente meno ricco del primo. La riproduzione del materiale è ottima. Il materiale scelto, come ho scritto non è interessante come nel primo.

Para quem é fã dos desenhos do mestre Al Williamson, vale cada centavo! Com certeza é um material para ter em sua coleção!
