How soft is the handle grip?

Is this cane for 500lb people

Contact the company or look on their website for canes that can support that much weight. It is possible that collapsible canes cannot. This one is definitely made for heavier people. Check with the doctor, too. A quad cane, which has 4 legs, with a large base is probably more stable for a 500-lb. person of they will be using a cane for any purpose including balance. A plus is that a quad cane stands up by itself and saved the person from having to lean over and pick it up if it falls easily like regular canes do. Hope this helps!

My current cane makes a "click" noise when it touches the ground. Does this cane?

Try re-tightening the band where you adjust the height. That has always stopped the clicking sound for me until the cane gets too worn.

There is a strong cord which runs through the hollow metal of the cane staff, which is actually in four separate sections which fit together, one inside the top of the other. They pull apart and each section can be turned up with the cord running between. In my mind, you can fold a bath towel but this cane is more what I consider collapsible. Very portable and great for travel.
