Perfect! Full use of DVD player now
This works perfectly. I easily programmed it using the first listed codes for DVD Player and TV. I wanted a compact design, not something huge and ugly. This is perfect. Compact, simple and cute. We needed this mainly so we could access the menu for our circa 2003 Zenith DVD player . With no remote (lost long ago) we could only push play, ff and rewind. With multi-episode discs especially a problem. Now we can do it all! Our family enjoys watching DVDs and VHS tapes. It just feels different than streaming: doesn’t hook into endless options which is good for our brains, and we enjoy borrowing DVDs from the library. I am going to try to program with our VCR as well, which is not necessary but will be a bonus if it works, and I’ll update review if it does.

Good Remote Glad for the Shift Key!
The remote works well to power on/off and control my Samsung TVs. I use Apple TV 4Ks on each TV, and on the slightly newer TV, all functions on the Apple TV work, so it turns my Samsung TV off and on just fine. I recently bought an Apple TV 4K for my slightly older Samsung TV, and the Apple TV remote turns off the TV reliably, but it will only turn the TV on if the TV has been on recently. If the TVs been off for an hour or so, the Apple TV remote won't turn the TV on. There are no new firmware updates for the TV. Enter this remote! When the Apple TV remote fails to turn on my TV (most of the time), I can power on the TV with this little remote instead of having to dig out the giant awful Samsung remote. I recently added an antenna to this older TV, and this remote lets me change source easily. As far as people complaining about the SLEEP button now being SHIFT, I'm glad for the shift button. It allows the channel and volume buttons to be used as arrow keys. This comes in very handy when I have to venture into the TV's menu. Good, inexpensive old school remote that just works, especially when new tech fails. Just buy it!

ergonomic remote a bit tasking to program
For my TV, BR, DVD, cable box, its perfect for doing the basic things like channel, volume, but not setting configurations. Great to use this as a banger remote, and leave the OEM with all the advance functions in storage, they are very hard to replace. Pros This remote does what it says it will do Very ergonomic, Fits well in the hand Buttons are easy to see Button in the right place to reach easily AAA x 2 Feel is quality, firm plastic good solid buttons and clear lettering LED flashes every time you press a button. Cons Very small print instructions, and very terse. Programming All codes are listed and you can get them off the internet to check if this will work with your gadget before buying. I found the easiest way to program this is: PRESS AND HOLD CODE SEARCH until LED lights LED STAYS LIT PRESS either one: TV, DVD, VCR etc.,, LED winks, and stays lit TYPE IN CODE On last digit of code, LED goes off, if not HIT ENTER Use remote to check if programming is correct Repeat for each device, ie., TV, DVD, VCR etc., To program without code entry do this: Turn YOUR DEVICE ON PRESS AND HOLD CODE SEARCH until LED lights LED STAYS LIT PRESS either one for the on device: TV, DVD, VCR etc.,, LED winks, and stays lit POINT REMOTE TO DEVICE PRESS OFF BUTTON repeatedly until DEVICE TURNS OFF [ this can take a while or not work if the remote can't work with your device!] HIT ENTER within 4 seconds, or it will bomb, so repeat from the top Use remote to check if programming is correct Repeat for each device, ie., TV, DVD, VCR etc., It works with all my gadgets, and I bought 4 of these and for fun tried both methods to program the thing.

Pathetic Technical Support -- Don't Buy ANY RCA Remote Control Product
I attempted to use this controller with a Sansui TV. The programming code that I used was one of several listed on the document, enclosed with the remote. Once it was programmed, I was able to turn the TV on and off. Volume worked great. The number key pad also worked. I was able to use all of the functions, except for the MENU button. Pushing the button did nothing with the TV. What did happen was after pushing the MENU button, the controller would blink 23 times, and then rapidly blink 3 more times. I suspected that this was an error code and so I tried to contact RCA, using the webpage that is referenced on the package. On the webpage, there is a link to send an e-mail. So I generated the e-mail and sent it off, asking for help to determine if the remote is physically broke or if there is a programming error on their part. Three times, I received back an e-mail that basically stated that I needed to consult the remote programming instructions on the website. The same information that was already in the package that came with the remote. So the first time, I did take a closer look at the website and confirmed that there was not something else that they might be referring to. There was nothing else. Clearly, they didn't even bother to read my e-mail. I could tell because each reply that I received back from them was the exact same words. After this non-sense, I contacted Amazon and they said that they would send me a second controller to see if the problem might be specific to the one controller. I received the second controller and put in new batteries. It didn't work. I took a closer look at it and the contact springs for the battery compartment needed to be extended. I took a knife blade and extended the springs. Putting the batteries back in, the controller started working. Clearly, poor quality control. I programmed the second controller and received the same resulting blinking LED error code. It appears that there is a manufacturing programming error, and that this error exists within all of the controllers. It is a shame that this problem could not have been resolved at the vendor/manufacturer level. Instead, both Amazon and I have had to waste time TESTING the manufacturer's controllers. I have never had such a disappointing result with any product. I strongly urge anyone reading this review to go with some other vendor's product. Clearly, RCA's response to my support requests, is indicative of a company that really doesn't care about supporting the products that they sell. I would recommend that Amazon drop this vendor.

Great replacement remote for Panasonic VCR
This remote works with my Panasonic VCR. The directions were easy to follow, and the codes listed worked on the first try. It does not have a button for a VCR. I used the DVD button and that worked. It uses 2 AAA batteries that were not included. It doesn’t have a lot of functions- you cannot display the counter on the TV. The important functions- play, pause, stop, rewind, and fast forward work fine.

Works but may be confusing if you've never used it.
This remote is very inexpensive and does work but some functions work differently than I expected. I programmed it for my TV and my DVD player. I assumed that when the DVD function was selected the up/down and left/right buttons would be active and allow you to navigate a DVD menu. But to get the buttons to function for navigation you have to press the menu button the remote. An LED on the remote flashes to let you know that you're in the menu function. Now you can navigate the menu and start the DVD. Then press menu again and the LED goes off. Although this is not convenient the advantage is that when in DVD mode, the start, stop, pause, ff and rew buttons all work as well as the volume controls for the TV. So unlike some other universal remotes you don't have to press the DVD button on the remote to pause and restart and then press the TV button to adjust the volume.

It works for CRT TVs!
The remote was easy to program, just hold down the TV button and type in the codes until the remote works, it works perfectly for my retro CRT TV Orion 13 inch, model number - TV1333 manufactured in 2001, I really just bought the remote to be able to change the source and watch my auxiliary inputs but the volume and channel buttons work also, no lag, I’ve seen some reviews complaining but it worked for me fine.
