GloFish Tetra Care 6 Inch Blue LED Aquarium Light, 1 ct - 29013

I bought both of these items to compare them. I dont work for either company and did not receive them at a discount. I have a 5 gallon tank (Marineland Portrait) which I love. big enough for 5-6 glofish and a large decorative rock. The blue light that came with the tank died after 5 years and I wanted a new light to show off the glofish. A bright blue light is key to making the glofish "glow". I really liked the idea of the different color options of the Smiful LED and the remote control is a fantastic idea. Only thing better would be a built-in timer but no one offers that! the Smiful LED was also less expensive than the Tetra LED and also stated it was completely waterproof should you want to mount the suction cups inside the tank versus on top of the glass. The Tetra LED gives you a clip to attach to the top/front of the tank but i found it too difficult to attach so i used a tiny swatch of industrial velcro that i cut down to size so that each end of the light would stick to the glass top of the aquarium. The Tetra light doesnt say it is waterproof in the description but in the one page manual inside the box it says it is - but i didnt trust it being fully waterproof so i kept it on top of the tank vs inside it. The Smiful LED makes a big deal about it being waterproof. After setting them both up to compare the lights, the brightness of the Tetra 6" LED blows away the Smiful light output. There is no comparison. My GloFish are stunningly bright with the Tetra LED. So if you can live without the remote control, the different color lights, the better mount, and it being fully waterproof - and all you care about it the bright blue output, the Tetra GloFish 6" LED is the item you want. If you value the other features more than the bright blue output, the Smiful LED is the one for you. I am keeping the Tetra and returning the Smiful. hope this helps others decide.

This clips onto the hood that came with my topfin 37 gallon from Petsmart perfectly. That hood only has white lights on it. Now I'm able to have a night time light without having to replace the hood. The other option is clipping it to the edge of the aquarium but I liked the angle better when clipping it to the hood.

Plenty bright enough for my 29gal tank at night. Gives it a moonlight effect so the fish can calm down and rest and yet you can still make out the fish in the tank as they move around. This is my 2nd light and they work great.

I have an autistic child. She has Glo Fish in her room to help soothe her. The tank did not come with a black light so we tried a blacklight tgat suctioned to the glass and it did a terrible job lighting tha 29 gallon tank. This one arrived today, I just installed it and wanted to check to make sure it worked and I was blown back by just how much of a difference it made! I am a happy customer.

I but his this for my 30 gallon fish tank and it works perfectly! I thought I would need 2 but 1 works great! Highly recommend if you have GloFish

I used this in a fresh water aquarium. I didn't realize this at the time, but this blue light causes or is some kind of catalyst for rapid algae growth. I had to stop using it completely. This was really a disappointment because, otherwise, it works well.

Want a nice simple moon light for your tank? This one works great, is very bright, and has a very nice switch integrated into the cord. So now I have my tank's white LEDs on a timer, and manually turn on the blue when I want to light it up more at night.

Lights up the aquarium very well!Clips to attach on the upper part of aquarium. Great product. If your need a replacement this is it!My aquarium came with one, but I use this one instead. Though once I transfer to a bigger tank, I'll use this more!
