Sauder Beginnings 6 shelves Multimedia Storage Tower, Cinnamon Cherry finish

This stores a lot of stuff and doesn't take up too much space. For the low price, I really can't complain too much. It was a little tricky to assemble and I messed up on a few steps, so I would definitely pay close attention while assembling.

After reading some of the reviews I wasn't sure, but having bought Sauder in the past I thought I'd give it a shot. I found almost all of the negatives mentioned to be wrong, at least on the one I received. The only issue I found, which one review mentioned, was that if you fill it with cd's the shelves will begin to sag in the middle from the weight. Knowing this, I bought a sheet of thin plywood, cut out 6 small rectangles, spray painted them brown and inserted one in the center of each shelf to brace them. No sagging and you barely notice them. I also used wood glue when assembling it, so it's very sturdy.

I have 2 Sauder multimedia storage towers that hold about 260 DVDs each and would have bought a a third if it weren't for a light switch that would have been partially blocked by it, so I bought this one which holds about 60 less DVDs and costs more. I am pleased that it matches the other two units both in shape and color. I am disappointed that it doesn't have one piece sides, and the middle shelf is nonadjustable, but for my purposes it wouldn't much matter as it isn't tall enough to handle five shelves of DVD. A couple more minor complaints, the shelves are made of thinner material than my other towers and the back is 2 pieces, a decision that along with the two piece sides was likely made for packing reasons. Overall I am pleased that I found a shelf that suited my needs so well, but unless you are in my very specific circumstance where you need a shelf to fit in a specific location, the other tower that Sauder makes that holds more and is cheaper/ better built is the best choice I have found for cheap DVD storage.

Easy to put together. Look good loaded up with dvd's. I bought 2. I need 5 more.

This shelf is basically a piece of trash. I don’t expect it to last long. I bought it thinking it was like the original shelf of the same design. It is smaller and the side and back pieces are not whole. The sides are made up of two pieces and the back is also 2 pieces. When I stood it up the sides detached but the back was already on so I had to try to pound it back together. What a mess! Also it DOES NOT HOLD 204 DVDs. Each shelf holds no more than 49 with a total of 196. There is no way I could squeeze in anymore. I realize that’s only 8 DVDs but I was counting on it holding the maximum. The original held 270 DVDs. I’m very disappointed in this shelf and would send it back except that the box is in shreds and the styrofoam is in the garbage can.

Somewhat deceptive. I bought this for DVDs - as a millennial I still have a substantial collection. The photos of the shelves lead me to believe it would hold all six shelves of DVDs however it is not tall enough to due so. If you are planning to use it for DVDs, please note only FOUR shelves will fit. Additionally, it is not entirely stable. There are cam locks that seem like it's going to hold the top half together and the top shelf on however instead of screwing in for a firm hold they just wedge in. They don't even wedge in well, leaving the top shelf and upper half prone to instability and coming apart. The only thing truly holding this unit together is the backing. I will be reinforcing this with different hardware, I can't believe the lack of care on these cam locks. HOWEVER - I do love the look of this unit and it was otherwise made well. The instructions were clear and well labeled and it is perfect for where I wanted it. I do wish it held more DVDs. I thought I was going to be able to add my entire collection to it but it turns out I'm going to need to do some more organizing. I still have a whole other box to unpack.

Nice little DVD/CD shelves (plus paperbacks and nick-nacks or other small items). Give yourself plenty of room and light while assembling as the small back panel nails can chip-off or spilt the shelving finish if nailed in too close to the edge. I am happy with this purchase, especially for the price (but price has gone up since my purchase).
