**10/10 The Best, Most Hyper-REALISTIC, Hardcore Survival Game in the World! PERFECT!!**
This game is among my all-time favourites; it has been around for many years with an active dev team regularly updating and staying involved in the game's improvement + development; seeing new patches, updates and even new maps added to the console port (version) of the game! (With another new map, teased, for console in the future!). Originally it was a modded version of the military simulation (Milsim) PC game 'Arma 2' created by a fan whom then later began working with the developers to create a standalone version with a new engine designed specifically to run the game in 2013 - 5 years later, after years of early access, they finally released the first console port on the Xbox one and then the following year PS4. (It is an Online Multiplayer Survival game only, with no offline modes). Although the PC version has MANY different available maps, the console version has tried to supply us with official maps over the years with notable success... It had it's initial map, 'Chernarus' a staggering 225km-squared, based on real eastern-European landscapes (Czech-Republic) and then later added the map 'Livonia' (163km-squared) and offers rich, dense forest biomes with many abandoned towns, villages, camps, hunting grounds, quarries, military bases, airports, etc... Sakhal is it's newest map (83km-squared land) that is a challenging, extremely harsh & dangerous environment that is set in an ice-laden, snowy & volcanic region that presents new dangers and survival mechanics. DayZ actually stands for 'Day Zero' and has establishes a grounded lore over the development of an official version; you begin as a survivor whom has an immunity to the 'infected' that harbour a deadly virus that has wiped out the population. You begin with only a t-shirt, shorts & a pair of shoes, you also have only x1 bandage + a piece of fruit (no fruit on Livonia + on Sakhal a 'damaged' knife to help you get a fire started before you freeze to death). You must survive by finding suitable clothing, food, water, weapons + equipment as you will have to defend yourself from a dangerous environment that will kill you; there are infected everywhere and hostile players whom will kill you on sight for your loot & the chance to live themselves! You roll the dice by trusting other people as they can, at any time, betray you, even after many hours together - so you must stay vigilant! There are many survival mechanics involved that need to be consciously tended to - you need to keep hydrated & well fed, which can be a challenge in itself as food is scare and if you manage to find & kill an animal, skin it, and make a fire to cook the meat, you are alerting other players to your location via rising smoke + light from the fire! You can make (or find) a fishing rod and fish, or make and set different animal + fish traps or hunt with weapons to procure food. You will get diseases from certain foods + if you decided to handle food with bloodied hands after skinning an animal - human meat will give you brain Prion disease (Kuru) and your character will uncontrollably shake & laugh (which can only be treated with a bullet to the head!). Water, if not properly sterilised, will give you diseases and make you sick, thus rendering you more dehydrated and will slowly kill you. Find a water pump and a clean bottle - but beware, other players will be trying to do the same thing as there are limited pumps! And some camp out these sites for easy kills/loot. If you get too hot you will sweat and wipe your head a lot and if you get too cold, you will audibly shiver, chatter teeth loudly & slowly die + become dehydrated & hungry quicker. Finding the right clothing, keeping cool, staying warming, building fires, staying out of the rain/water, keeping dry... Clothing, when wet, will weigh you down (decrease your stamina) and you will have to manually 'wring' the items of clothing out (from: Drenched, to Soaked, to Wet, to Damp) and then either let them dry-off over time or quickly remove all your clothes and dry them by a fire (you will be exposed/vulnerable though). You can make a serious amount of different items, from: makeshift clothing, traps, weapons, gear, cooking tools, fireplaces + upgraded stone fireplaces, bases, among a plethora of other useful items to aid in your survival adventure!.. If you interact with other players whom have a disease, without a mask on, you will contract their illness or vice versa and pass it on. Combat is VERY realistic in the sense that you do NOT have magical reloads like in every shooter game, you will have to manually detach your magazine (if you have one) and reload each individual round (bullet/slug/flare/grenade) and then re-attach it and cock the weapon (+ expel the previous shell from a fired round in a bolt-action or break-action firearm). Firearms will become damaged over time (if not already when found) and cause the weapon to 'jam' - which needs to be manually dislodged/unjammed... Bullet-drop needs to be accounted for and nearly every weapon can be manually 'zeroed-in' at differing distances. Weapon attachments can be found like: sights, scopes, flashlights, silencers, bayonets, ghillie wraps, etc... (You can create mundane silencers that break after a few shots). Literally anything that you can pick up can be used as a weapon, whether it be a knife, bat, shovel, frying pan, crowbar, sledgehammer, spanner, screwdriver, piece of fruit/veg, literally everything!.. (Holding your breath when firing takes up stamina). You will have to watch your stamina as the more you carry/wear, the less stamina (and speed) you will have - you can only carry as much as each item of clothing/backpack/accessory will carry (which is not a lot) so you have to be mindful as this will get you killed! You can switch between first + third person and fire from the hip or scoped + hit people/infected with your firearm/bayonet. Ammo is scarce/hard to find the specific ammunition you may need as there are so many different types of firearms that require different calibres! And the firearms are not easy to acquire - they need regular maintenance which require 'Gun Cleaning Kits' that are really hard to find + take up a lot of carrying space. Bullet cracks + Shots from your firearms, whether silenced or not, are hyper-realistic and can be heard from hundreds of metre away that will attract hostile players (sometimes groups of people and/or multiple people) to your location + unsilenced shots will attract zombies like flies to sheet! (Silenced shots will only attract zombies if the shot misses flesh and collides with solid objects that will alert them to the impact zone). Players will not always die from gunshot wounds and will, a lot of the time, if wearing body vests, will be rendered 'un-con' (unconscious) and will need to be 'finished-off' with a round to the head (or multiple shots/strikes/stabs to the body) before they regain consciousness (whatever is held in the hands when knocked-out will be dropped to the floor) - you can also tie people up with things like: barbed wire, wire, rope, duct tape, handcuffs... to be able to take their loot/clothing or take them hostage (can be done when the player is unaware of you behind them) but they can break-out of each method with varying times if not 'punched'/struck to stop their attempts. You can jump, climb, walk, jog, sprint, crouch, crouch-run, go prone and crawl + barrel-roll and also lie on your side & back with firearms. There are things like frag grenades, flashbangs, smoke grenades, flares, mines, claymores, bear traps, home-made traps, etc.. that can be found around military sites, amongst some of the better weapons, attachments and military gear/clothing... but other players are trying to get the same items as well. On some maps there are different secret bunkers/areas that require keycards/specific items to enter and offer more valuable/rare military gear... If you get an injury, you must treat your wounds/ailments; if it is a cut, you must bandage it, with sterilised bandages/cloth/sewing kit to prevent blood-loss + infections; if you get one of MANY illnesses/diseases, you must try to identify which one and find/use the appropriate treatment (which will take time depending on the severity/stage of the ailments + what kind) - some can only be treated with Tetracycline RARELY found at hospitals + medical tents (military) if it progresses to the later stages (usually after 45 minutes of loud coughing, blurry vision, shakiness etc...). Some symptoms of illness/disease will cause you to black-out, vomit, slowly die, shiver, lose stamina, etc... If you break one of your legs, you will black-out (fall unconscious) from the pain if you try to walk on it, so your only option is to crawl, on the floor, to a bush, chop down/snap off some sticks + either cut up your clothes or use a bandage to make a splint that you have to put on your broken leg to be able to walk slowly and heal faster (15 minutes from 30 minutes without); usually done by falling from height, gunshot to the leg, walking on a landmine, stepping in a bear trap, etc... You can find EXTREMELY RARE car spawns but you would have to find: a car battery, car radiator, spark plug, wheels, gasoline, bottles of water (for radiator) + a jerry can or cooking pots to fill with water and hope that none of these are damaged (EVERYTHING in the game has 5 levels of condition: Pristine, Worn, Damaged, Badly Damaged & Ruined - if something is 'Ruined', it can NOT be repaired or used! There are many different ways to repair each item that would take forever to explain!). There are different types of cars + trucks (that take truck batteries) and each vehicle has it's own unique wheel, hoods, doors, boot, that can be found on other similar wrecks... Vehicles are manual, dangerous and very, very hard to find! (You can play for years before every getting a fully running car!). Among the different & special types of infected + hostile players, there are: packs of wolves + bears that will hunt you down and kill you! If you die, that is it! You will respawn as a different person and can try to find where you died and hope that your loot has not been taken by someone else but most likely, you will die from starvation, dehydration, illness or murder before getting there! There are not easy ways to navigate! There are compasses and maps that you can find (rarely) that are just basic maps of the whole area, plus some small notice-board/billboard-style maps in some places that tell you where you are (but not what way you are facing). The only way to figure out where you are is to look at town names (on the roads that lead in/out of towns/villages) and find it on the map + look at different points of interests to determine your location or you can, if you're lucky, find a GPS Receiver + batteries, put batteries in it then turn it on and that will give you your coordinates but you will have to divide the X + Y coordinates by 10 and use the grid to find the zone + run in a direction for a bit and then re-check the new coordinated to figure out the direction you are travelling and check for landmarks... you could cheat by using the DayZ/Arma mobile app to show a more detailed map and figure it out and follow/plan your path through that or find a version of the map online but that takes the immersion/fun out of playing a hyper-realistic, hardcore survival game! The DayZ community is still exceptionally vast and diverse, worldwide, with regular daily players ranging up to 1 million (average 500,000 daily players)!. Official & Community (Player-Owned) Servers (that refresh [connections] every few hours to remain at peak performance - you won't lose anything you build, drop or have, see or know is somewhere, it is just a technical event). The Official Servers are run by the developers and offer the original gameplay experience, mechanics + values. The Community Servers are run by third-party hosts that mod/change the layout of the map/s, it's values + mechanics, to suit different types of gameplay/play-styles - whether you want small PvP-based deathmatches, Vanilla gameplay, PvE-dedicated servers where it is easier (increase loot values, reduced survival/disease mechanics, unlimited stamina, less time spent 'un-con', less infected, etc...) or PvPvE (Player vs Player vs Enemy (NPC infected)… Or if you don't have hours & hours to play each day, you can play on a server that is more suitable for the 'working man' as you can play, collect loot, build a base, mods that include traders/shops, scheduled weekend [base] raids, military spawns, custom map that displays your current location, etc... there are various different servers for you to play on that offer different styles of gameplay (I much prefer the original, Official DayZ experience on it's own dedicated servers and sometimes, on the odd occasion, play for a short time on deathmatch servers - a good way to improve/hone your combat/firearm skills and practice)… There are measures in place for when you join an Official server, [Timers] if you leave (takes 15 seconds - so find a good hiding spot so you're not exposed/vulnerable - your character will sit down for the duration of the countdown as it eliminates rage-quitting/combat-logging) - beware, your character will REMAIN in the location that you logged-out for another 30 seconds afterwards, this is to prevent combat logging. You can re-join the same server at ANY time and you will respawn in the EXACT same location with the same gear (takes 1 minute 15 seconds) - but if you join another [Official] server, you will have to wait 90 seconds (1 minute 30 seconds - extra 15 seconds ("Timer Prolonged due to Server Change"). . . (Community Servers are different, they take about 3 seconds to join as they are customised). Everything you do, makes a difference; each item has a different sound-rating that will make your footstep louder (very loud in general) so be aware as other layers can hear you equipping items + guns (unique, distinctive sounds), your footsteps are prominent and with your rucksack + clothing choice, will make you very 'loud' when moving (has it's own mechanics that also alert infected, which in turn will alert other infected + players). . . This game is exhilarating, exciting & will give you rushes of adrenaline when you encounter other players and engage in firefights/combat as you add more value to your character's life when you spend hours, sometimes (if you're lucky) days, weeks, months, risking your life at every second, just to be able to lose it all in a flash - all it takes is one wrong move and you will be dead; a stray (or precise) bullet to the head, a swarm of infected, groups of players, a single player waiting to ambush you, a deadly disease, the weather... so many ways to die yet so addictive to play! I 100% recommend this game as a must-have, must-play title as it is STILL constantly being worked on by the devs which shows it's major success as an on-going, ever-growing game that is an gift that keeps on giving! A truly unique, hardcore, hyper-REALISTIC survival experience (the most realistic survival game in the world!!) - I genuinely love this game so much and the graphics/textures are pretty good too! Hard to get into at first as it is extremely difficult due to there being NO tutorial/easy mode, it is a serious hardcore game that is so unforgiving that you will become addicted to it's mechanics and get YEARS & YEARS of gameplay out of it + the new desert map that they made a teaser trailer for and will be released in the near future!! This game is a leviathan of a title!

❤️🤩 buy it find what you want
Very very good game but it’ caused me issues realising you only have yourself and happier on your own put it this way I’d rather eat a Granny Smith apple 🍏 then sit around a table with ungrateful self centred people eating a rib eye who opt out at the first struggle

Survival of the fittest
Let me tell you about DayZ on PS4, the game that will make you feel like you're actually living in a post-apocalyptic world. It's like The Walking Dead, but with less drama and more zombie-killing action. First off, let me just say that this game is not for the faint of heart. It's like being dropped into the middle of a zombie movie, except instead of just watching the action, you're actually living it. You'll be scavenging for food, fighting off zombies, and trying to survive in a world gone mad. But let's talk about the real reason you're here: the fun factor. This game is so addictive that you'll forget you have a real life. You'll be playing for hours on end, trying to find that perfect hiding spot or that one last can of beans. And the best part? You can team up with other players to increase your chances of survival. It's like The Hunger Games, except instead of fighting to the death, you're fighting to stay alive. Plus, you get to make new friends, or at least allies, in the process. But be warned, this game is not without its glitches. You might find yourself suddenly falling through the ground or being attacked by a zombie that's glitched out of a wall. It's like a rollercoaster ride, except instead of being thrilling, it's just frustrating. In conclusion, if you're looking for a game that will make you forget about the real world and immerse you in a post-apocalyptic one, then DayZ on PS4 is the one for you. Just be prepared for some glitches, some frustration, and a whole lot of zombie-killing action. Happy surviving!

Avoid
I bought this after looking at reviews. This is definitely the worst playstation game I have ever played. I have no Idea why people like it. Not for me, especially at the extortionate price. Avoid.

at first a very steep learniing curve but once a few hours played it starts to get much easier. you get to play against up to 60 other players in a huge open world. searching for the items needed to survive in a harsh world crafting weapons and medical items. hunting animals to cook and eat to help survive. have adventures alone or team up with others for a different type of adventure. the hours just fly traversing a varied world made up of forests and small towns and army bases. along the way you'll have to fend off zombies wolves bears and lots of other challenging foes to keep you on your toes.
