These work great to hold glass chair mats in place over carpet
The perfect application for this product is to hold a tempered glass chair mat in place when on carpet Most people know only of plastic chair mats which are kind of junk compared to tempered glass ones. However they slide quite easily on carpet and this product will solve that problem. Lowe's and Home Depot do not sell this product and as far as I could tell you can only find it on amazon. My only complaint is that adhesive is in credibly strong and if you have occasion to need to remove them such as moving the glass chair mat from carpet to either hardwood floor or short patio carpet, good luck. The adhesive does not like to come off the glass. One side is flat with very strong adhesive, and the spikes are on the other side.

Furniture Pads Work, but Spikes Are Longer Than Expected
Furniture Pads Work, but Spikes Are Longer Than Expected I tried these self-stick carpet protectors on the bottom of a few heavier chairs that were leaving dents in my carpet. The pads themselves are clear and stick well—they don’t shift or peel off easily, even when the furniture gets moved around a bit. They definitely do what they’re meant to do: spread out the weight so the carpet doesn’t get those deep marks. Where I ran into an issue was with the little spikes on the bottom. They’re designed to grab into the carpet, which makes sense, but I found them a bit longer than I’d like. On softer carpet, they push in fine, but on a shorter pile rug they can feel excessive and almost like they’re trying to pierce through more than they should. It doesn’t ruin the functionality, but it’s something to be aware of depending on your flooring type. Bottom line: Solid protectors that really help with carpet dents, but keep in mind the spikes may feel a little too long if your carpet is thinner.

3/4” not 5/8”; does NOT hold chair mat in place
I bought clear double-sided tape as another review mentioned the adhesive tape doesn’t hold well and is unsightly on a clear mat like I have. The tape I bought holds great and was cheaper than the Gorilla brand. As for the product itself, these squares were easy to break apart and apply to my polycarbonate desk chair mat. Overall, they work far better than velcro or tape on the bottom of the mat, but my mat still moves. I have deep pile carpet so I bought the 5/8” size, which should have been perfect according to my paper clip measurement (my pile is exactly 5/8” deep); however, the spikes themselves (not including the platform part) were 3/4” tall and were far too tall in my deep pile carpet. They held up my chair protector everywhere they were and it sagged between them. In addition, the mat still moved. So, I ground the spikes down to 5/8” and tried again. It now works better than before, but my mat still migrates at least 3” both ways every day. I am going to have to drill holes in my mat and tie it between my desk legs to try to assist the spikes in holding it in place.

It's held my glass floor mat, they work
These really do work as suggested. I purchased a glass floor mat for my home office, which has a plush carpet. After a few days of having move the glass continuously as it was moving on the carpet I purchased this soft touch self adhesive strips. The installation of this was very easy, basically peel and stick on the areas of the item you want to hold, in my situation I put the items on the front and side barriers of the glass floor mat, and it quite simple. I think this along with the glass floor mat is protecting the carpet and it's holding that glass piece so it doesn't slide all over the floor. That makes my life easier. Overall going to low cost pretty simple solution which has now worked for over several months.

Excellent in holding a glass chair mat in place!
I split 1 of the 4in squares into 4-2in squares, and I put the 2in squares near the 4 corners of my glass chair mat. The glass mat used to quickly more across the carpet, but now the mat has remained in place for several days. These carpet protectors are a blessing when used to prevent a glass chair mat from sliding on the carpet. The adhesive is strong and make a good bondto the bottom of the glass chair mat. The 3/8in teeth are firmly in the carpet and pad, and haven't moved. The plastic mat before this glass mat always moved on the carpet, and this glass mat has always moved; what a pain to frequently move the mat numerous inches. Every few days I needed to move the mat about 6-8 inches. Since bonding these carpet protectors to the bottom of the glass mat, the mat has not needed to be moved at all. I'm so happy to have found these carpet protectors for use in keeping my glass chair mat in place.

My fault for buying this product.
My fault buying this product. It was not capable of keeping this plastic mat from sliding on the carpet. Photo shows how I solved the problem.

Great for High Carpet, not the greatest for hard chair mats on carpet.
Perfect for protecting our new deep-pile carpet. We put these under the legs of our heavy sofa, and they work exactly as advertised. The spikes hold them in place, and they distribute the weight perfectly to prevent those deep, ugly dents in the carpet. Simple, but highly effective. The ones we put under our chair mat though, made it too high and probably wont work correctly if you have a hardened chair mat/ acrylic chair mat making the corners bulge up.
