Exactly as described, this thing works to smooth out drywall and spackle. It smoothed out a patch that I spackled myself in seconds. You can use it dry or damp and I recommend adding a little water just to pick up some of the dust that comes off the drywall. It makes cleanup easier. I expect I'll be able to reuse this for a long time because it's very durable.

Worked great at sanding spackle on drywall, wish it was easier to clean but that’s kind of a big ask. I really liked that the sides also had grit which made it perfect for sanding wainscoting.

Bought this to patch holes in a rental before moving out and it worked great. Easy use and clean up.

I purchased this to use in my craft room. The block is perfect for roughing up the edges of paper. Because I’m just doing the edges of paper, it will last me a long time. I think it is a good value for the money

What else can be said. Having different grits on different sides is genius and it made repairing our wall a breeze! Just get this one for your home repairs!!

It sands really good on baseboards and walls, leaves the area smooth, I didn’t like that this product can give you cancer or birth defects, otherwise it’s a great product.

This is my review for the 3M Small Area Drywall Sanding Sponge (Fine/Medium grit) which I bought a couple of to crackfill two bathrooms and a bedroom quite extensively. Two of them were adequate enough to finish the job. PROS + Great for sanding drywall compound near corners due to the shape. The 90 degree edges of the foam allow you to easily sand compound that is extremely close to wall edges. + The foamy consistency allows you to fit some shapes that are not possible with drywall screens. Where drywall screens fall short (corners, edges and tight spaces) the foam sponge is king. + Durability is good. The two sanding sponges I bought were sufficient to finish a large bedroom and two small bathrooms. + Easy to clean of compound dust. Just hit the sponge with your hand or whatever else you have lying around to remove the dry compound dust. CONS - Gets bunged up very quickly if sanding paint. Much faster than a drywall screen. Because of this I would not use this to prepare an area for spackling. Save this for when the holes are filled and dry. - Requires cleaning via rapping often. Due to the nature of the material and what is being sanded it is pretty much to be expected that the dust build up quickly. Fortunately it is easily removed. OVERALL For $4.50 a piece at the time of purchase, I think these sponges are extremely useful. They should save you a considerable amount of time (used in conjunction with screens) if you have a considerable amount of sanding near edges and tight spaces to be done. Conversely if you are just going to be filling a few holes in the middle of a wall, go with the drywall screens alone. Again, try and avoid sanding painted surfaces with these as it will bung them up with material that is very hard to clean off.
