Fantastic projector.
Absolutely wonderful projector. Bought for an outside cinema with a 150" screen and it does a magnificent job. Very bright and colours great. Very easy to use and useful having the padded case it comes with. Middle photo taken at about 10:00pm other at about 9:15pm (end of July)

Big screen HD on a budget
I bought this to replace my old Mitsubishi projector which sadly had given up the ghost. I considered going to ebay and finding another used one, but for less than £200 I thought I'd give this a punt. I had an idea I'd try it for a day or two, realise it was too good to be true, and return it.Safe to say, I will not be returning it. For the money, this thing is incredible. The first thing that struck me was that yes, this really is 1080p, none of that "HD Compatible" nonsense you see so much of. The detail really is excellent, as you can see from the shot of Tom Cruise in Oblivion (from the blu-ray playing via a PS3). The picture doesn't really do it justice, but you really can see every hair in his stubble, every stitch in his clothing. This alone is worth the asking price, the detail really is that good. But a detailed picture is nothing without good contrast, brightness and colour, and this is where it really surprised me. The black level was the most surprising, as it's almost black. Almost, but not quite. Remember, this is a £200 projector, so it's not going to rival a decent TV, but still, blacks weren't that medium grey colour you often get with projectors, and I had trouble capturing anything in the black letterbox bars. Brightness too was surprising. In a small room with blackout blinds, it could get painfully bright. In a room with ambient light, as you can see from the youtube menu shot, the image is perfectly serviceable, and that's with the contrast turned down. If you don't mind clipping a little of the highlights then you can push it way brighter to use even in daylight. That was not expected. With this level of brightness, and these good blacks, it has a very good contrast level. Finally, the colour on this thing is incredible. Skin tones look natural while primaries leap off the screen. Just look at the end of 2001! It was good to see a user customisable one point white balance control, which let me dial in some natural looking colours, although I've never seen a white balance control that didn't let you control green. There is some clipping of white (which can be mitigated by lowering the contrast, for which there's some headroom thanks to the brightness) and the near black handling leaves something to be desired, but I would expect these to be problems on projectors costing three or four times as much, so for them to be mere afterthoughts here is well above expectations, and at this point I'm really just nitpicking.I also played a few games through it, and it's really a joy to play games on. The 3LCD panel has a very low response time and I saw absolutely no smearing or ghosting. And the input lag was excellent. It felt slightly better than my Sony TV even, so if I had to guess I'd put it in the mid 20ms range. I'd go as far to say that gaming might be this projector's greatest strength, although that comes with a caveat...Unfortunately, it's not all good news. While the chipset might be 1080p, the optics clearly aren't, and suddenly it hits home that yes, this is a budget projector after all. The lens noticeably softens towards the edges and corners, meaning text and graphics can look soft, and even blurry. The keystone control is even worse - all it does is crudely change the angle of one of the internal lenses, meaning it changes the focal length of half the screen! It's unusable in all but the most minor changes. Finally, the lens is a bit fussy with focusing. Add this all together, and remembering this projector has no optical zoom (only a digital one), it means it can be very fiddly to set up. I've had to move around the projector, the screen (ok, a white wall), and spend far too much time getting it just right. Another thing to note, while not a defect as such, is that the image is projected more centrally than most. This meant lowering my ceiling mount down so half the image wasn't on the ceiling. Location is king with this projector, but if you are willing to put the time in you can still get a very nice looking picture, and for movies the softness wasn't apparent. However, this is in line with what I expected for the price. Certainly I have seen worse lenses, even in projectors that cost more. The build quality is ok. Kind of cheap and plasticky, although the light weight is nice when it's being suspended above my head. There was a little dust inside mine on one of the internal mirrors which sadly shows up on the image, so I'm guessing quality control is not really a thing, but it's nothing that a can of compressed air couldn't fix. Nice selection of inputs, particularly a VGA socket, and the powered USB (so you can power a chromecast or something similar). Shame most of them are on the back, otherwise I could have pushed the projector further away from the screen. But once up and installed, the brushed aluminium effect is really quite nice. The remote is really nice. Small and light, but with nice, responsive buttons. Shame that among the included cables (and the lovely carry bag, it really is good quality) they didn't include batteries. Boo.The speaker isn't bad either. Not great. Like a half decent computer speaker, or on a cheap TV. Certainly good enough if you want to use it on its own.I can't comment on the USB/SD card functionality as I haven't used them. I've heard they are quite picky with what files they will play, however.Overall, I'm blown away. For the price none of the niggles I've said surprised me, but the sheer detail, contrast and colour accuracy of the image is something I wouldn't expect in something five times the price, and it's ideal for gaming. If it were a choice between a £200 TV and this... well, you'll get a bigger, brighter, deeper and more colourful image with the Vankyo. Kind of a no brainer.Pros- Bright- Image is very detailed- Great contrast and black level- Responsive for gaming- Good selection of inputs- Nice remote and included accessories- Lightweight- PRICE!!Cons- Image is softer at the corners- Keystone nearly useless- Picky about placement if you want the best image- Build quality could be better

Good quality for a fraction of the mainstraim brands
Your browser does not support HTML5 video. I bought this projector to replace my old epson which lamp recently started flickering and I’ve had this projector hooked up in my conservatory for over a week now and I would say it’s clearer and brighter than the epson but it was around 4 years old.I love watching films on the 100” screen it’s lovely and clear and I’m sat about 13ft away, I was going to invest in a sound bar but the built in speaker has been brilliant! It could do with going a little bit louder but sound quality wise it’s bang on.As you can see from the photos it’s got plenty of inputs including USB and SD card. The only way to do this projector justice was to video it, I mean you can’t lie with an unedited video straight from my phone

Super fast, bright Full HD projector
Starting with the case, it is well built and, considering I will use this when travelling to customers, I can see this lasting quite a while. There is ample space for the power cable, HDMI cable (both supplied with the projector) and my laptop to HDMI adaptor. On to the projector...it starts up, ready to project in around 10 seconds and shuts down almost instantly. I guess this is the benefit of the LED bulb as there is no cool down time. The picture is bright and clear and the manual keystone and focus make it simple to use (no complicated menus to navigate!) The one thing to note with manual focus is that you have to wind-up the lens when packing away. This only takes a few seconds but it took me a moment to realise I had to do this in order to get the lens cap back on (I should have read the instructions to be fair). There are plenty of connection options, including 2 HDMI and VGA and that should help with meetings where several of us are projecting at different points (no need to play 'pass the cable'). The remote controller works well though for me, this is not something I am likely to use given it will always be mounted on desks.I have taken pictures during the day (we have a full wall of windows to the left hand side) and when darker (though far from a pitch black room). Please note, the wall is not white and my hands aren't that steady! It happily presented my laptop which runs a higher resolution than 1080p (2736x1824 to be precise) and it scaled it perfectly.Overall, for £200, this is an awesome projector and one I am recommending to my colleagues!

Noisy fan but great value for money
PRO'S:- It works...- Quick bootup, less than 10 seconds- Excellent build/construction quality- Plenty of accessories- Amazing quality carry case- Good quality manual focal adjustment- Nice user interface- Well packagedCON'S:- Unbearably noisy fan with no fan speed settings- Image is not very sharp but it will make do for a budget projector blown up to 100cm from 3m away. Currently projecting to a beige coloured wall paper so bare that in mind.- Keystone is good for minor angle adjustments, otherwise it looses focusMake sure to spend the time experimenting with the image colour/contrast/brightness setting as it improves the picture detail drastically.I bought 2 projectors to compare side by side, the fan noise on the other 1 was very quiet in comparison however so I'm returning this one; despite being £30 cheaper, having near enough the same overall image quality, a better UI, coming with an amazing carry case and a much better focal ring. This thing is noisy but if you have speaker really turned up on movie night, it may not bother you...
