Can this be brewed with a tea infuser/strainer?

I pour boiling water over mine, brew for 10 minutes and then pour through a strainer. The French press works fine but I hate cleaning it out.

Whole beans available?

I don't think so. I believe the cacao stays fresher longer than coffee beans...I believe their website said 3 year shelf life. I love this stuff!

Will this grind work in a paper pour-over filter or does it need to be a French press?

A French Press works best but you can use a paper filter pour over. However, cacao does filter water slower than coffee and it will take longer and sometimes, some water will still not go through towards the end. Many people use paper filter pour over, just tinker with it a little

How important is the french press? Is it truly worth the extra work and cleaning? I'm currently using a ninja professional drip coffee maker.

Well, it is very coarse in grind so other methods will be weak in flavor. Perhaps you should get French press bags so cleaning the French press will be much easier, they sell them here on Amazon. Happy brewing!
