Nicely made with quality wood
Nicely made with quality wood. I did however get two right sides in the kit i received, which required me to flip one side since they are grooved to accept the bottom of the box. I then had to create a dado across the end of the side piece to accommodate the back.

Bought this as a birthday present for my 8 year old daughter. She's been wanting to do projects with me like her older brother and I thought this would be a good starter. She did 90% of the construction and had a blast doing it. As with life, it didn't turn out 100% like the picture but the experience is what she enjoyed most. She's very proud of her work and that's worth every penny to me.

Great beginner project with help from a knowledgeable adult
We got this for our sons for Christmas, along with their first tool sets (7 and 5 years old). They had to have some help from Dad to build it, and he said it was a bit frustrating (he is not a builder) trying to make the holes a bit bigger for the nails, but the end result is really incredible for something made by two little boys and their dad. It's very spacious and something I believe I will be holding on to for a very long time.I would just say be warned that you will likely need adult help for any kid who isn't well versed in the basics of building. Also, if you're a smart adult, you could easily replace the heart and star knobs with something a bit fancier and make a really nice gift ;)

Fun project with great results
My six year old son and I did this project as a Mother's Day gift for his Mom. Once we pulled the pieces out of the box and made the necessary cuts with his handheld saw, he decided he wanted to stain it. We picked out a dark cherry stain at a big box home improvement store in our town. After sanding the pieces, he then stained them all, with the exception of the heart and star drawer knobs. He painted those with acrylic paint, red for the heart and green for the star (his Mother's favorite color). Assembly went relatively well. We found that the nails went in easier and didn't bend if we drilled a little into the adjoining piece so that the nail was given a better guide. After assembly, he sprayed a high gloss clear coat on it all. Turned out really nice and his Mom loves it.

Great dad/daughter project!
My daughter absolutely loved getting this kit. She is eight years old and dad helped her put it together. The box is bigger than any other jewelry box for little girls and holds a lot of favorite treasures!
