TEKTON 14pc .vs Pittsburgh Pro 13pc
I am a former Machinist, so it’s pretty easy for me to distinguish a good product from a shoddy one; especially if it’s made out of metal. So there’s that, and my deep well impact set is made by MAC Tools, so I am accustomed to using nicer quality tools. To me this set is functionally on PAR with my MAC set, but the covered case is more practical. My MAC has the sizes stamped on the sockets, and the TEKTON has them etched on. The sizes are easier to see on the TEKTON, but I am wondering how long it will take before the etching fades. I chose the TEKTON over the Pittsburgh Pro at Harbor Freight. If you want to know why I did so, read on... TEKTON 14pc .vs Pittsburgh Pro 13pc -Pre-purchase Analysis PRICE: With the sale price, and the 20% Harbor Freight coupon, the Pittsburgh set was $3 cheaper. Pittsburgh wins Round One! SOCKET ASSORTMENT: Pittsburgh Pro: 10, 11, 12, 13, 14, 15, 16, 17, 18, 19, 21, 22, 27 Note that TEKTON doesn’t have 10 & 16. Not sure that I have ever needed a 16mm, but I bet if I really needed one, that a 5/8 socket would be close enough. As for the 10mm, who would ever want to put a ½ impact on a 10mm bolt? TEKTON: 11, 12, 13, 14, 15, 17, 18, 19, 21, 22, 24, 27, 30, 32 Note that that Pittsburgh doesn’t have: 24, 30, and 32mm. These larger sockets are expensive to buy individually people, and they are nice to have around! –TEKTON Wins Round 2 ORIGIN Both sets are made in Taiwan. –Round 3 is a draw. CASE Pittsburgh set has a bulky and awkward push-on type case. Since this would take up serious real-estate in my socket toolbox, I wanted no piece of it. TEKTON case is compact and covered, so the odds of it coming open and spilling sockets all over my toolbox (like the one for my MAC set) seem slim. –TEKTON wins Round 4, and takes the belt! Other Comments: The next step down from this set (the 10 piece TEKTON 4815) seems kind of dumb, as it doesn’t include a 14mm socket. Doesn’t every single piece of metric machinery on the planet have at least one 14mm nut or bolt somewhere? Just seems like a strange size to omit to me…

Inexpensive set. Good quality for the price. There are a lot of skips in the larger sizes. It is still a good value.
Very inexpensive and nice impact socket set. Tekton seems to be pretty good quality when you consider the price. I already have a set of deep well impact sockets. I plan to get a set of short swivel impact sockets for use with a lightweight electric impact wrench. These are labeled nicely which is important as you get older and the sizes on the old chrome sockets is more difficult to read. There are several large sizes in this kit that may come in handy. (though there are a lot of skips) Even when you consider the amount of skipped sizes, it is a pretty good value. Buying one large socket at the auto parts store can be 1/2 the price of this set.

Amazing Impact Sockets!
I use these sockets all the time while working in an automotive shop and an agriculture machine shop. These sockets work great and are extremely durable. I have never had any issues with any of my TEKTON tools and would suggest these tools to anyone in need of great, quality tools. I have recently acquired a very large amount of TEKTON tools for my personal tool box that I use for automotive, agricultural, and several other applications. I have been extremely impressed with TEKTON and all of the customer service representatives I have had the pleasure of communicating with. Their customer service is outstanding and they were willing to help me out with anything that I needed. TEKTON tools are very high quality tools. TEKTON's tool warranty is amazing: if anything breaks, take a picture of it and they will replace it. I have never had any of my TEKTON tools break and I don't think I ever will, but I feel good knowing that all of my tools are covered by warranty. Many people pride themselves on having Snap-On tools or other extremely expensive tools brands. Take it from me, if TEKTON has the tools you're looking for, NEVER buy tools from anywhere else. They almost always have the best prices, except when compared to cheap tools from Harbor Freight that are terrible quality. TEKTON tools are great and are by far the best tools I have ever owned.

Tools like this make me wish Tekton was sold in stores
I already own two of their torque wrenches (work GREAT, btw, thanks ChrisFix!) and bought these to use on some work on my car (control arm bushings, brake overhaul, motor mounts). These got used with a breaker bar and with a cordless impact wrench and made short work out of all the bolts I needed off. It was either buy these or go to the orange hardware store and get their canine branded impact sockets. Not only were these cheaper, it included more sockets, AND came with a handy blow molded case for storage. On top of that these seem solidly made. I have no worries about these breaking, and even if they do, I've heard nothing but good things about Tekton's warranty. If these tools were sold in ANY stores within 100 miles of me I'd gladly be filling my toolbox with them. As it stands the canine sockets from the orange store are in my toolbox (for now), but I'll slow start replacing them with this brand.

The plastic case is stronger than I had expected and the sockets work great in my impact.

Nice, comprehensive impact socket set. Great quality, too. Will stand up to professional use. Some sockets have a hole on one side for the drive tool's ball detent, while others have little notches on every side. Not a big deal, but you have to match the hole up with the ball detent on some of them so that they don't fall off.
