US Privacy Professional Practice Exam: By Jasper Jacobs, CIPP/E, CIPP/US, CIPM, CIPT Paperback – January 13, 2019

This material definitely deserves 5 stars and is every bit worth the $. I took the CIPP-US exam this morning and passed. I wanted to write this review in the hopes that it would help someone else. In preparing for the exam, there weren’t a lot of sample practice questions available (other than the 25 sample Q’s IAPP offers) and reading the text book material isn’t enough, in my opinion. found the sample questions in this book to more closely resemble the actual test material, ESP the hypothetical fact scenario questions. This book and the IAPP BOK were KEY. Good luck to anyone reading this.Post note: you must still read thru the IAPP text book and understand the material. Also, everything in the BOK is testable. I didn't see anything on the test that wasn't in the BOK. The practice exams are meant to supplement only; not substitute the actual text book

This practice exam is a good investment.To prepare for the CIPP exam, I read the book cover to cover twice and studied quizlet sets created for the CIPP exam. When I felt I'd absorbed the information, I took the practice exam. After taking and passing the actual exam on 9/17/2019, I can say that purchasing this practice exam was a good investment.The practice exam prepared me for the scenario format of some of the questions where you are presented with a factual situation and asked to apply the relevant law to the situation. Additionally, the difficulty level of the practice exam questions is almost on par with the actual exam.I hope this review is helpful to someone. Cheers.

A few statements in the book I didn't agree with:1. COPPA isn't for 13 yrs and younger, its under 13 years old. Ages 13-18 can be covered through other state laws.2. I don't think CEOs would be interested in data mapping documentation, this would be of interest to privacy officers or CISOs. CEO's would be interested in how data can be shared.3. The DOE does have some privacy enforcement rights, esp for FERPA. The book says it doesn't.4. The Cloud Act is called the CLOUD act.

Like most people who've taken the CISSP, I was shocked and puzzled by the lack of practice materials for the CIPP/US. IAPP publishes just 30 questions -- compare that to the official CISSP practice test book with at least 600! So I was relieved to find this booklet of questions. There are 1-2 questions where Jacobs dips into his considerable personal knowledge and includes material not in the IAPP text book, but otherwise this problem set is super solid and useful.

Given it is one of the few practice tests available, I recommend it. It also claims that the questions are formulated like those in the exam, which should be helpful.

With the lack of material in preparing for the CIPP exam, I was thankful to find this book. You will encounter tricky language in the actual exam & this will help you prepare for it. There were a few typos but I overlooked them. I did do the sample questions from the IAPP website, but I would say that questions in this practice exam are more closer to the real exam.

Did I pass the test: yesWhat did I use: the official thick textbook from IAPP and associated video modules in the testing package.Was this practice test helpful: not at all. It was as helpful as not taking a practice test at all. I'm sure it was useful for prior years' test takers, but this practice test (1) was too easy compared to the actual test, (2) had a distracting amount of spelling, grammar, and content errors, and (3) had questions that may as well have been written by a high school class clown (imagine something like: Does the U.S. have a national privacy law? A- No / B- Yes / C- the U.S. doesn't care about privacy / D- move to the EU for privacy laws). But...it's ten bucks as an e-book and if it'll give you some peace of mind to take a practice test, no matter how bad, then ignore this review.
