Brushwork: Elementary Brush-Forms (Yesterday's Classics) Review: Will be great for our homeschool art lessons! - We have not begun our lessons yet, but I've gone through it and am happy with my purchase. The only thing I wish it clarified more in the beginning is which supplies to purchase. It tells you the colors you need (which, seems fine if those aren't exact). But I was browsing all over for similar gridded paper that can take watercolor...I found some, but the squares are smaller. But, turns out grids aren't essential, just may be a preference. Also, from reading reviews online it seems like good watercolor brushes are made, at least in some part, with actual animal hair. I also wasn't sure if the paint needed to be the tubes and then we mix or if a pan of paints is fine. Seems like you could go either way. All that to say - the actual instructions are simple and there is a steady progression for beginners - but as someone who knew nothing about watercolor, I could've used some more step by step help in the preparation. Also, I stumbled upon Bestowing The Brush and some of her free videos were super helpful in getting started! I got this to do with a 6 year old boy beginning Ambleside Online. I thought starting with this (as opposed to soap carving, or paper folding, etc) would be helpful since it'll help improve our nature journals too. Review: Using this for our homeschool - We are using this to supplement our art curriculum. I have NEVER been exposed to instruction in painting. We are just getting into using the book, but I feel better having it here to help my son and I explore painting.

Using this for our homeschool
We are using this to supplement our art curriculum. I have NEVER been exposed to instruction in painting. We are just getting into using the book, but I feel better having it here to help my son and I explore painting.

lovely printed version of an excellent resource
While you can find this for free in the public domain, this printed copy is well laid out and makes it much more accessible IMO. Excellent resource for those wanting to learn to use watercolor paints or is following a Charlotte Mason homeschool method.

Beautiful, simple way to learn watercolor painting
An amazing way to get into watercolor. I’m using it as a way to teach a secular Charlotte Mason-inspired curriculum.

Fantastic introduction into the world of brush work. My children have enjoyed each lesson. My children ages 5-9 use this.
