This was NOT DAKOTA RED
I normally order from Guitar Reranch for accurate vintage colors. Unfortunately, I have not been able to get in touch with them. No one answers their phone, no voice-mail, no response to emails. I decided to try Ohio Valley Nitro, since they are apparently the only company that listed Dakota Red as having that color available. (Even Stuart MacDonald doesn't offer it.) I was very disappointed when I saw the color appeared as a Bright Red similar to Ferrari Red instead of that dark blood color that is characteristic of Dakota Red. This paint wasn't cheap and the shipping was over $10 (about half of the price of the paint!). This is for a restoration job and the color is so far off. My customer won't be satisfied and I will have lost the time I invested in repairing and prepping the body. I don't know what their other colors are like, but if this is any indication of their color matching, I would not recommend their product to anyone. I will certainly never buy from them again.

Way too bright!!
It's not Dakota Red. This product is more between Fiesta Red and bright red.

Take your time and follow directions
I don’t know what previous people experienced but I painted my j bass with Okio Valley and it turned out incredibly well. I only took off one star because it dries a bit brittle. Chipped some tiny areas when reinstalling pickups. You need to shake up the pigmented cans for a couple minutes and store in a room about 70 degrees. Dakota red is beautiful

This is not red at all it's clear
This was bought as a gift by somone else. 2 cans and there is no pigment in it. 40+ $ of clear nitro ( I guess it's nitro sure isn't red)
