is the spring stainless steel or plastic?

I just checked, and it is a stainless steel spring.

How is the rusting? Does it rust easily? The ones I have rusted after like a week.

Stainless steel doesn't rust, this was the best replacement for those cheap plastic ones. works great.

Can you give me the diameter of the cap from the under side.

Unable to measure the diameter of the actual cap because of the insert, however the diameter of my soapdispenser is 1" the cap screws on. It fits all my dispensers, it is the universal size. great replacement for those cheap plastic caps that comes with most.

Would this fit a glass vinegar bottle?

This pump has the same thread as a standard soda bottle. It will fit most vinegar bottles, which have the same threads.
