Q: Anyone know why this doesn't have vitamin C in it....doesn't C make iron easier to absorb?

It’s the acidity in vitamin C that helps break down iron. Specifically iron salts; ferrous sulfate, ferrous gluconate, and ferrous fumarate. With iron salts it’s recommended to have an empty stomach, take vitamin C, anything to create as much acidic in your stomach to help break down the iron salt in the stomach in the hope that some of it can go to the small intestine where it gets absorbed. This “is not” the case with polysaccharide iron complex (PIC) used in NovaFerrum. The PIC is a less harsher iron where it’s much easier on the stomach and GI track versus iron salts. Pediatricians suggest an infant may already be receiving adequate vitamin C. We instead added B12 which helps prevent the onset of pernicious anemia. I hope this helps.

It does not contain soy. This is one of the reasons I decided to purchase it for my little one. I use this brand for myself.
