Very nice for the price!
This dinnerware set is a very nice quality. The issues I had were a few chipped pieces but the seller sent me free of charge replacement pieces. All I had to do was email a picture of the defect. The quality exceeds the price. I was anticipating paying $100 per place setting and found that these dishes were very comparable to the expensive set I was considering. It is nice to have a dinner party with these since it will not break my heart if a guest breaks one of their dishes. The quality of the print and design looks very nice in my china cabinet. I am very pleased with my purchase. I had to buy a 16 piece setting to fill our china cabinet and this was definitely the way to go. Our last dinner party was well complimented on by every guest at how nice the place setting looked. I highly recommend this product and its manufacturer for value, quality and ease of replacing broken pieces. The more expensive set I was considering was heavier in weight but the quality of the design is almost identical.

An Elegant and Unique Design
My wife has wanted a set of China/fine dinnerware for a long time. With the purchase of our new home last year, I felt the recent holiday season would be the perfect time to splurge on a good dinnerware set. What I found was a set from a reputable brand, with a quality I believe to be approaching fine China that usually costs at least 5x what I paid. I originally had my eyes on another brand/design with a princess lace border and silver inlay, for roughly 3x the cost. But when I stumbled upon the Lorren Iris series, I was sold! The Iris Collection has a design more reminiscent of Celtic knot/Nordic vine trim work. The combination of cobalt and gold leaf overlay provides a robust brilliance that not only makes the Iris Collection stand out uniquely from other traditional and contemporary fine dinnerwares, but it also represents the Irish portion of our family heritage. The overlays aren't as robust as more expensive dinnerware, so hand washing is a must, even though the product boasts to be dishwasher safe. Take care of it and be gentle, and I believe you will get may years of enjoyment from this dinnerware!

very beautiful, great price
it is very beautiful and it looks very delicate. gorgeous. the cups hold 4oz and a tad more than 5oz if full to the brim. it is not translucent so it is not the finest of china but since it says it is dishwasher safe it is obvious it has to be tougher. the border does feel rougher like etched glass but i dont know if this is a good or bad sign in terms of quality. it is a great sign in terms of looks and feel though. i am not using the dishwasher on them. i dont want to get surprises or dissapointments. i usually do place the china and fine utensils in my dishwasher after a meal and run it without dishwasher detergent. i use the regular or the pots and pan cycle and then later i wash them by hand. in that way the food acids does not stain or damage them and i dont have to hurry and leave my guests. it is the dishwasher detertgent that is abrasive and alkaline, doing must of the damage, when you run the dishwasher. without it, it is just a strong water rinse. update: careful when placing in dishwasher. if they bang against each other they could chip. usually place a smaller plate between the bigger plates.

Good value for the price
We recently purchased 3 sets of these dishes. We did so because we liked the pattern and the price. I also was pleased to hear directly from the company that the dishes met the safe harbor level for lead as per California's Proposition 65 standards. Although the back of the dishes says Designed in Italy, in fact they are made in China according to the box. The packing of the dishes was really excellent so that all arrived in perfect condition. Since they have only been washed in the dishwasher a few times, I cannot opine on the durability of the finish. The appearance of most of the pieces is beautiful. Since my standards are high, I will say that there have been a few problems with some pieces (average 4-8 per box and mostly on the cups, saucers and dessert bowls but some on other pieces as well) which include small dots in the finish, imperfect borders, uneven borders, and scratches/pock marks in the finish. Also, the bottoms of the pieces are a little rough relative to fine china; an emery board was helpful in smoothing the roughest spots. The company was responsive to me when I mentioned these problems and sent me some replacements. Overall I am pleased and hope to be using them for many years.

Had these dishes for nine years!! Love these plates
Ok. I don't like writing reviews right after I receive items. Well, I think I wrote one here a few yrs ago after I had these dishes for a few yrs. But now, after nine yrs, I am super super.impressed with how long they have lasted and how strong they are. We almost throw them into the sink and they have held up. I showed some chipped plates in the pic. It's happened to a few of them but I've had them for nine years. I still use them chipped. They still look good and work well with the chipped part. So wanted to tell you that these are beautiful. I use them weekly for Shabbat( Sabbath- we use fancy dishes) and also for the chagim( Jewish holidays..which are a bunch of times a year and for a number of days each time. ) So this has seen a lot. It's excellent quality and is beautiful!!!

Nice set for the money!
Some of the reviews for the sister products to this set are pretty negative, saying the product looked cheap or was produced with low quality workmanship. Let me say that I've also read the reviews on this specific product and most of them were right - it looks so much better in person. I also ran all of the pieces through the dishwasher more than once and they still look great. They aren't falling apart or anything and I've looked pretty closely at each piece and I haven't seen any defects or signs of a junky cheap product. I have not attempted to put them in the microwave (because frankly I rarely use the microwave) but I don't have a need to do so at this point in time. If I try microwaving them and I have a problem - I'll update my review - but at this point in time I would highly recommend this product. I think it's great!

Horrid Dinnerware Set
With such great reviews, I was expecting this set of dinnerware to be a good buy and relatively high quality. What I received instead was a set of dishes with borders that were not aligned, cutouts that were extremely large around handles, faded borders at some spots, and small inclusions/chips in one or two pieces. When one-dollar-a-plate deals at discount stores can have a symmetric border, there is really no excuse for this kind of craftsmanship. I was very disappointed to say the least. I would recommend that any potential buyers look elsewhere. Included are a few pictures from the set. I was remiss in that I did not take any pictures of the two chips, but there are plenty of examples of the border problems.
