Upgrading and Repairing PCs [Mueller, Scott] on desertcart.com. *FREE* shipping on qualifying offers. Upgrading and Repairing PCs Review: Upgrading & Repairing PCs 22nd Edition is great - Upgrading and Repairing PCs by Scott Mueller is excellent for the current vintage. While this book was made in 2015, I can still glean useful information from the timely and informative pages. I have laptops and devices for this particular book vintage (2015 Lenovo and 2015 Apple MacBook), among other devices. This revision may be the final version according to Que publishing and/or Scott Mueller’s writing. Check with the publisher for up to date information. Review: d evolution of the IBM-AT (Win based PC's) with nearly all there is up to just a few years ago. - I've been buying these yearly sometimes 1200 or so editions of this single author's Upgrade and Repairing PC's for about 20 years now, skipping a few at a time. And mostly just opted for the digital version updates anyways because it's a pretty massive book, with neverending information you'll find, and the most comprehensive Ins-and-outs both for the beginner but doesn't cease in including the technical facts for professionals. And this being his 22nd edition encompassing a good 40 years of PC history in all areas and subjects. What's best is that with each new edition you get a much more brief rundown of of the earlier technology but look forward to the couple extra years of detailed updates just to further your technical knowledge and be able to utilize as another competent reference source during my own PC builds, upgrades, and troubleshooting.

Still a fantastic read
Even though the material in this book is a little dated as of December 2020 the material covered is fantastic and is applicable for any novice or professional. As a professional A+ Certified bench technician with over 10 years of knowledge and experience under my belt, it serves as excellent reference material. The information contained herein serves as an excellent refresher of technology past, with hints as to what the future holds. A digital CD is also included in the hardcover version jam packed with resources.

The book has a lot of great information in it
The book has a lot of great information in it, and is something I would recommend to someone who is getting serious about working with computers but is still new to the field or hobby and needs good reference material to expand their knowledge and fill in some gaps. There is a lot of great in-depth information in here, but there is the occasional thing which is missing (e.g. TLER on hard drives). I don't regret getting this book at all, I just hope that in future editions maybe some of the old CPU chapters are removed for more current hardware information.

Best, most complete hardware reference book.
This is a gold standard of computer repair and upgrading. It gives the history of each component also which is a great help in understanding how we got to where we are in this science. This book comes out every year or so, be sure to get the newest copy if you want to be absolutely up-to-date. Remember that this is a HARDWARE book, no software instruction is included. Worth every penny.

The definitive resource for building or upgrading computers
I have been rebuilding old (circa late-1990s) beige server cases to use as Linux workstations. This is the best resource available for finding everything you need to know about ATX systems. I wish it would get updated but can understand what a huge effort that would be. The explanations and descriptions are very clear and easily understandable. The video on DVD is an excellent introduction for those getting started working on personal computers.

This book is also useful because it represents what's in the field
Through the years (since the mid-90s or so), I have bought these to upgrade my library and my knowledge. This is the go-to book for any upgrading or repairing computer problems. This book is also useful because it represents what's in the field. The thing I especially like with the DVD is that it includes two PDF versions of past editions of his book. I also like that it is a hard cover because this book gets well-used and and needs a sturdy cover. Thanks.

Absolute Must Have
For ANYONE who deals with Intel/AMD box computers this is an absolute must have. An invaluable hardware resource. Well worth the price.

Great book for information on all about fixing PCs- however, I thought the 22nd edition would be later than 2015. The technical information is the best I have seen in 30 years of working with IT/PC systems.

I have followed Scott Mueller's PC "Bibles" since the early 80's. There is so much info on everything to do with a PC including specs for every component, when it came out and what goes together. The included DVD is always educational as well. It may cost a bit more for this book, but you will never go wrong.
