My PetraTools HD4000 Backpack sprayer is top notch for my yard fertilization maintenance. Comfortable to wear and carry with a strong long lasting rechargeable internal battery. Very pleased with its ease of use and simple cleaning procedure. Great assortment of nozzle accessories are provided for different applications. Their web site is excellent with easy to understand and thorough How to Videos for every aspect of instructions for all their products. Great for us novices learning lawn care. My yard is coming along beautifully with fantastic results. My first few uses were precise and efficient when applying their “Neighbors Envy” liquid lawn fertilizer, Chealated Iron, liquid Dethatcher and surfactants. Petra liquid lawn products are top notch and my lawn has been rejuvenated. The more I spray the healthier it gets. After my second use of cleaning, I somehow lost the filler cap filter for the sprayer. Couldn’t find it. I looked to no avail. I then called PetraTools to order a replacement. I had the pleasure of talking to Customer Representative Christina who promptly sent a free replacement filter cap. No questions asked, just great customer service with an outstanding warranty on their backpack sprayers. I highly recommend PetraTools and Liquid products. Well what I can say is companies with good true customer service are where it’s at! Sprayers that just work and don’t leak and don’t spill down your back and again just work are great. Petra tools is by far the best sprayer over used and I’ve used tons growing up on a farm in PA and owning my own working farm now this sprayer has saved me beyond hours of annoyance that other sprayers would cause. Going on our second season now with it, we run many many tanks full through this from 2-4d to fertilizers for the lawn from Petra and other ag mixes as well as other sprays. It doesn’t hurt your back or leak down your back like nearly all other sprayers I’ve used do. That’s really the key if the comfort to the sprayer and quality. We did have a slight hairline crack in the wand not sure how it happened but again we use this on our farm so it may have dropped or got hit at some point but we contacted Petra warranty and they didn’t hardly ask any questions I showed a picture to Anne and she helped me get a replacement shipped out! Their warranty claims was the other reason I chose to buy their products. We have their 1 gallon sprayer as well and it’s great! This was not a paid review or a reimbursed review this is just me being thankful that there’s still business out there making quality products and stand behind them! Hand cranking 9 gallons of spray was killing my shoulder. Enter the HD4000. I'll get into details below but i am very happy with this purchase. Quick likes: very comfortable wand that does not drip, good selection of nozzles, easy to fill, adjustable pressure that is easy to reach while on your back, comes with extra seals. Some dislikes: plastic fittings with fine threads (especially for the nozzles) could be susceptible to damage. The pump to hose connection works loose - then you get wet and cold. The harness is ok but if I was doing 24 gallons in a day, is want a better harness. Some details.... The trigger - no drips. You let go, it stops. If I'm walking around with roundup i can't have drips. Extremely comfortable. Small complaint - I locked by mistake and had a hard time unlocking quickly because i wasn't used to it yet. The harness - it gets the job done. To keep pricing competitive I'd be ok with a pro harness upgrade for those that want it. 4 gallons of sloshing water is heavy - having a harness with some shock absorption and wider straps with much better padding would be something i would pay extra for as an option. If you only use it a couple times a month for one or two tanks, the price is right. Pressure adjustment - very useful and easy to reach while wearing the pack. It will shoot very far using the brass nozzle at the highest pressure. A far exceeds expectations on convenience and function. I feel like I'm going to lose the charger - I'd like a durable pouch the can get attached to the sprayer when you are not using it. One open air side for anything wet and a sealed section for the charger. I can put it in a ziploc bag and leave inside sprayer when not in use but don't like putting stuff inside the tank. Not a deal breaker though. The battery - i wanted a lithium ion but form factors are all unique to vendor. I use Dewalt and got to thinking that a charger/battery system is to expensive and the industry standard sealed lead acid battery can be purchased anywhere for cheap. The heaviest portion of the sprayer is the product and the slight extra weight of the battery is insignificant compared to the product. Long term cost wins and these batteries are proven performers. Cleaning - i try to not make to much of what i am using so that i run out. Very easy to dump out excess from either side and rinse, add a little water and run through to clean the wand. I leave both caps off to dry it out. Easy. Durability - don't know yet and i am not a daily user. I expect to have to replace the battery about every 3 years - same battery my alarm system uses - cheap, standard, no big deal and it could last longer. More likely to die from lack of regular use than from wearing out. Seals seem like good quality and you get a bag full of extras. Bottom line - i would buy again and stand by comments that I'd pay extra for a pro harness. You want to have a good price point to have a larger market, so the upgraded harness as an extra makes sense.

Great product even better support. Had this unit for almost 4 years now I contacted via chat and Anne was extremely helpful at walking me through things to do and even offered replacement parts. It’s awesome to see companies make great products but also back them if issues arise. As for the sprayer works well and functions as advertised. Just for clarification initially, I contacted them because the older version was a little confusing on power the on-off switch and dial. This is directly from Support in case any of you need additional help. On an I/O switch, the "I" represents the "ON" position and the "O" represents the "OFF" position. If you want a constant maximum pressure, the red switch should be on and the pressure dial should be off meaning it's turned all the way to the left until you hear a clicking sounds. If you need a variable pressure, the red switch should be off and just use the pressure dial.

The unit has adjustable pressure 40-90psi, good for spraying media you don’t want disturbed to drenching if need be, and is very effective at so many different methods due to the number of attachments given. It fits the tee jet heads as well which is a welcomed addition. The 4 gallon is a wonderful capacity to have and has allowed me to mix less. A lot of sprayers get clogged which leads to a stall in productivity. This sprayer has a filter to pour liquids through where I’ve had concoctions with biochar and microbes where I poured it through the filter, the filter caught the larger pieces, which I took out and “sprinkled” on to by hand after spraying the now micronized mixture. It’s quite the awesome companion to a wonderful gardening experience. I also love the accessory metal wand that is available as in other cases I’ve seen, such an addition makes a sprayer harder to handle as it’s heavy in the wrong places and has no adjustability. The metal wand replacement accessory they make is very sturdy but also so light. I often times think it feels lighter than the plastic one. It is also adjustable in the same way extending to almost double its size for high to reach places and the back of bushes kind of thing. The combination of this is just unstoppable and a joy to use. This company also really stands behind their products and I’m so glad I invested in their ecosystem for my vegetables, flowers, bushes and trees. I have written only a couple of Amazon reviews but I had to say something here because I have really been helped out and my needs were met completely and more. Usually I’ll buy something and that is where the support ends with the company having made the money off of me already. This company not only cares about the function of their products but the longevity of them as well. It’s shown that this backpack has completely replaceable parts in every aspect, literally everything can replaced or maintenance can be done parts down to batteries everything. I had a problem breaking a part that was necessary for the function and mentioned there was a sale at the same time which another item was included which would make it so my mom could use this too as the backpack is heavy if loaded up with water or solution. Anne from customer service was able to quickly see my frustration as I was terrified my schedules would be off and I had a big problem at hand. Anne settled my nerves and let me know I would be taken care of in the best way possible. I asked questions about another sturdier component and the one that had broken was replaced with this. I even got some nice gloves sent in the package. This is just outstanding customer service backed by a company who really cares about their products actually being productive in the hands of customers. The replacement was sent in a couple days I was so surprised at the complete efficiency and care I was given by Anne and PetraTools making me and all my friends customers for the foreseeable future. While this pump is not commercial grade I do use them for commercial projects knowing I will need to replace parts or the entire pump from time to time. I have purchased at least 8 of them over the course of 3-4 years. My entire company uses them daily for pest control treatments and as you know employees can be very hard on equipment that they don't have to buy. I continue to purchase these pumps because the company is FIRST RATE when it comes to customer service. They have never failed to respond to an issue quickly and offer helpful solutions. Another thing that I like is the manufacturer listens to customer feed back and is continually improving design and durability. Case in point - They added a comfortable back plate to the original design. They beefed up the hose assembly although it could still be more sturdy. They added a metal spray tip in addition to the plastic ones. They did improve the strap design, but is still needs work. The pumps themselves work really well. They are easy to use and the stream can reach 20-25' and beyond when fully charged. The battery usually lasts 4-5 hours with intermittent use of 15 minutes at at time before the pump begins to noticeably decline in pressure. They can last around 8 hours of total use on one charge and that beats the heck out of wearing out your shoulder from pumping! Things I have noticed about this pump - *the tank cannot be lifted by the tank handle without cracking the tank around it. *the straps do not hold well unless they are looped back on themselves more than once. you will want to keep an eye on the straps and tighten them as needed or the pump will fall off your back and likely crack when it hits the ground. *the supply hose has a tendency to crack near the connections after some time. This is an easy fix, though. *the connection from the hose to the tank comes loose very easily - This can be remedied by tightening the nut inside the battery housing before first use. *the door to the battery will break at the hinges, but will still snap into place and it does not prevent the pump from being used PROs ease of use price customer service CONs some durability issues when used daily for commercial projects overall for the price this is a very good product

Great tool, used it a few times a year for a few years. Developed some leaking at the top when full, the rubber o-rings had gotten kinked/failed over time. Talked with Christina and Anne and they have sent some new parts over for replacement. Very easy to work with, great team!

First of all, this product is very good. I love how it has simplified my bug and weed-killing operation. The first time I used it I was instantly convinced that it was well worth the investment. However, I had an issue with the HD4000 not charging after just two usages. Prior to purchasing, I had done my research and the company and its products seemed solid so I was quite surprised that I was having this issue on an almost brand new unit. I voiced my complaint and Anne with Customer Service contacted me immediately and took care of me in a big way. I'm very satisfied and would recommend this company's products all day long.
