Mini Plater 24K Gold Plating Kit, Gold Plating Machine

Product does exactly what it says and plates metal pieces in 24k gold. The set comes with some tips which if you can follow definitely do. I specifically noticed that heat did significantly impact the reactivity of the metals. I was able to get 9 rings , a pendant and a set of earrings plated. The solution seemed to lose reactivity after that time but it could have also been other factors which I’ll talk about below. This had AMAZING results on sterling silver pieces without any tarnish. I specifically had some pieces gifted to me over time that I wouldn’t wear bc of the silver so they were in mint condition and they had an absolutely beautiful coating and they were quick to get plated in the solution (60 seconds or less). I’m so excited to be able to wear these pieces and I’m so grateful to have found this! Will be ordering more. Things that I wouldn’t know until I tried ( and are no fault of the product I’m just kitchen table crafting): The solution does not cover scratches and blemishes in the existing metal, they’re just gold scratches now, so pieces that were well worn have some new life to them but they don’t look new. And I didn’t expect them to! But good to know. The solution struggled against vintage pieces that (in fairness) probably needed to be stripped down to another metal layer. But metal that was degraded really struggled against the plating process and ultimately was discolored in some spots. It also alerted me that some of my pieces had an existing polyurethane layer on them, the solution seems to melt these off in a sort of plasticy flake way that it 1, wasn’t able to plate through, and the flakes seemed to significantly hurt the reactivity of the overall solution in the pieces following.

My wife and I got silver coin rings for wedding bands. The silver reacts poorly with my skin so I wanted to plate it to see if that would help. I have no experience with jewelry or electroplating. This kit was easy enough to understand. Heat the solution in the microwave for 30 seconds, heat the jewelry in hot water, dip for 20-30 seconds as instructed, done. I did make the mistake of dipping my ring a little too long the first time and got a splotch of burnt gold coloring. I just polished the ring lightly but not completely, which lightened up the finish. I then plated it again for 20 seconds. This taught me that less is more with this product and that there’s definitely enough gold in solution to thoroughly plate three rings at least. I will save the rest of the solution for when I need to plate these rings again.

It was cheap and fun. But the result is quite bad. Simplify it didn’t have enough “gold.” Rather than using the word gold, it was more of a copper color. If you are looking for fun, go head. But if you are expecting a good result, I suggest you not.

If you want to learn how this kits work very well. Not much of the expensive solution,but enough to have fun with.

I recently purchased a 2003 Gibson Les Paul Standard that was used and was a little beat up. I am in the process of trying to restore it and make it look as new as I can. One of the things that it needed was all new gold hardware. The hardware was all faded and worn off with some heavy patina like effects. Rather then spending hundreds on all new hardware I decided to give this kit a shot. I cleaned off the parts as best I could and then followed the directions. After dipping the parts into the solution, they came out shiny and gold again and best of all I saved a lot of money too. I was quite happy with the results and I am glad I bought this kit. I encourage you to buy this kit if you are looking to do similar type of restoration work.

I bought several smart watches but they were either rose gold, when advertised gold or only came in silver color. I ended up with a beautiful one from Skagen but again it was rose gold. Most of my jewelry was gold and I don't think rose gold looks that flattering on my rose undertone skin. Anyway, I got this after obsessively looking for how to change the color of metal until 3am one night. We used the kit and my watch still works. I changed a pandora ring that was also rose gold. We did my nieces fashion jewely. Hers started changing color but I am not sure what her base metal was. Mine have held up past taking a shower with my ring and washing my hands and getting my watch wet. It was such a fun activity. Cannot recommend enough!

Bought on a whim because I had a lot of jewelry I never wear either because it’s tarnishing/plating has worn off or it’s silver and I prefer gold. This was super simple to use and I got way more out of it than I expected. The color of the plating varied depending on the base metal I was coating, but I’m happy with every single piece. Already ordered another jar of solution. I absolutely couldn’t be happier!

This is a must have for anyone who has gold plated jewelry, it is perfect for replating silver items and plating new silver pieces. Don't leave it to process for too long or you'll get a pure gold colour which is more yellow and 18 14 10k respectively, but if you get your timing down then you can get a beautiful result!
