Who'd have guessed "Phillips" is different in Japan? Apparently, Standard Phillips is rounded at the "armpits" of the cross. Rounded corners of a Phillips driver can jump out of Japanese screw head. Japanese Industrial Standard (JIS) screwdrivers have sharply cut "armpits" to fit Japanese screws.For this particular #1 screwdriver, I thought, "It looks kinda big for M2." But this IS MADE FOR M2 screws. The perfect fit reminds me of hitting a bullseye with a dart 5 times in a row or a door you swung behind you closing with a perfect amount of force. For decades, I've used small watchmakers' screw drivers for M2. I wish I had bought this about 20 years ago! For M3 screws, #1 tip is a bit too sharp to fit snugly, but I could use it.I've ordered Vessel JIS #2 screwdriver thinking it would fit M3 better. JIS #2 does fit better than #1, however, #2 turns out to be substantially bigger than #1. For M3 screws, #1 feels like it grips only at the center of the cross, and #2 grips only at the outer edges of the cross. So my search for a JIS driver for M3 continues. At least this #1 driver takes care of M2 screws perfectly.
