The fisheries of the Northeast and Northwest have been in turmout to say the least. However the future looks bright. The lake trout have come back strong in the last few years and the Northwest rivers are seeing the strongest runs of salmon and steelhead in recent history. With input from some of the top fishermen on these waters we developed the Celilo series. Throwing modesty out the window we nailed these actions and developed the perfect salmon, trout and bottom bouncing graphite rods. Although beautiful, you don't have to take out that second mortgage to load the boat with them.

So far so good.
I just got this rod in the mail 8 hours ago and fished with it for 3 1/2 hours and had a blast. My other ultralight rod was a 5' one part of an 18$ combo from Walmart and it felt like it too. I'd try to toss a worm on a size 8 hook with 4lb test to let it slowly sink down in front of a dam and I'd have to REALLY work at tossing it out like 8 feet. This rod, being 1 1/2 feet longer, on the other hand I was able to throw out the same worm + hook + line like 20+ feet and I'm pretty sure once I get better at loading up the rod I can get it out there even further. After catching a few panfish like that I put on the smallest splitshot I had, which was like a quarter of the size of my pinky fingernail, and let the worm sink to the bottom and hopped it around. Now on my other rod I could mostly tell when something was 'pecking' at whatever was on my line and when something 'bit' it because the 'pecking' was a very very slight jiggle and the bite was a jiggle that had a little umph to it. But with this rod even when they're just 'pecking' at it it taps the rod twice as hard than the 'bite' on my other rod. So I missed quite a few fish due to the rod being too sensitive if that's a thing. It's just something I have to get used to but once I do it should be super nice.Lastly I used an atomic tube 1/32 oz with a trout magnet EZ-float or whatever they're called and was able to launch that a country mile. I was tossing it down from the top of a 2-3 story tall dam down to the bottom and was able to keep the line out of the rapids due to the increased rod length. I was also able to set the hook quite well considering I had a ton of line out. Will update review if something changes the next few times I go out fishing and catch some trout or bass.In summary:Super sensitive (might take some getting used to)6'6 length seems really good for casting distance (with 1000 reel anyway) also has 7 guidesHook holder seems good (it's like a staple)Seemed to have decent backbone for being so sensitive (caught a monster pumpkinseed and the rod didn't double over like an ugly stick and was able to set the hook quite easily even with lots of line out)2 pieces held tight together (didn't come apart)Cork handle feels pretty smooth and comfy straight out of the box (I had two pieces of plastic covering both pieces of cork)Color of the rod was a nice burgundy color with striation rings around it once you shine light on it (kind of like cats eye or something?)Others said to order the rod by itself because amazon will just shove it into a box with other stuff so that's what I did and my box came in perfect condition with rod unharmed so I'd recommend doing the same.UPDATE: I caught a bass close to 2 pounds and it took me like 2-3 minutes to get it up to the shoreline. He bent the rod a ton a handful of times and I was forced to lift it out of the water onto land by the rod and the rod is fine. I don't know what all the reviewers are doing to break the rod in half or break the tip off. I know 2 pounds isn't a lot of weight but for the 2 seconds I had the fish out of the water by the rod it never felt like it was going to snap.

The Best
I own just about ever length of these Okuma trout rods. I have only fished for trout on rivers and small lakes with these and they hold up very well. The action is one of the best I have used over the past 40 years of trout fishing. I have not broken one yet, the guys that have broken them catching bass are jerking so hard to set the hook maybe they need to use a medium/heavy action rod. These are ultra-light. 6'-6" perfect length if you were only on planning on one.

Shipped bad fishes good
I wish packaging was better from Amazon on fishing poles. I ordered this rod and a grass trimmer and they shipped in the same box. I was not happy but could see no damage to the rod. First fish I hooked (1.5 LB bass) the rod broke about half way down the top section. Great response in replacing it, but I babied the new rod for 6 or 8 fish thinking it might brake also.I am happy to say that I have landed 20+ fish in the 1 to 2 pound range on this ultralight rod and have been happy with its performance. I like the feel, the hookset is ok for an ultralight (some never feel like they have set the hook well). We have wind 24/7 this spring so casting without wind is still to be seen. All in all I think it is well worth the budget friendly price.Just make sure it gets shipped alone, or with something super light.

It broke after a month on its own
I have a 6'6" ultra light ugly stik, that I thought was light weight. This rod manages to be half the weight of my ugly stik and still perform just as good! The construction feels a tad bit lower quality but not by much, and not on the rod itself but on the handle. The handle is comfortable though. I bought this instead of another ugly stik to save a few dollars, but now this is my go to rod if I'm going to cast and retrieve lures.I had to update my review after only a month or so or using it. It broke from the tip all on its own. I take good care of my rods and when I went to use it the tip was broken out of nowhere. I'm 100% sure no one touched my rods and they weren't bent. I had it strapped to my ugly stik gx2 rod and that one was perfectly fine.

... the 7’6” for a year now and it’s my favorite rod I use almost every time
Owned the 7’6” for a year now and it’s my favorite rod I use almost every time. Super fun rod with enough backbone to land good size American Shad and smaller steelhead easily but still sensitive and soft enough for panfish. Recently ordered the 8’6” because I like my 7’6” so much.

Great Ultralight Spinning Rod...
I purchased the CE-S-662UL-1 rod and paired it with the Okuma Ceymar C-10 reel. I live on a small lake near Atlanta, GA and wanted an ultralight setup to fish for panfish off of my dock and an occasional trip to the river to fish for trout (stocked Rainbow and wild Brown). The rod was highly rated by several reviewers and was consistently rated as the 'best budget trout rod'. I didn't have any knowledge of the Okuma brand before I started my research but felt comfortable making the purchase after reading the 9th or 10th positive review. I did less research on the reel but assumed the Ceymar series from Okuma would be a suitable match for the rod.I was really pleased with the quality of the rod as soon as I opened the box! My expectations were not all that high at the sub thirty dollar price point but whatever they were, they were exceeded. I'm more of a weekend angler than serious fisherman and I've owned plenty of big-box store combo spinning rods & reels that are great for wetting a line and not much more. The Celilo is a HUGE step up from the stiff, rubber-grip or cheap cork, rods that I'm accustomed to using! I've only had the rod & reel for 3+ weeks so I can't offer any opinion on the long term durability but I have already caught plenty of bluegill and redear sunfish along with a couple of 3/4 lb bass... it handled them all without any issues and is a pleasure to use. At this point I'm a new Okuma fan and highly recommend the rod.

Looks like a Fenwick.
This is a perfect 4ft 6 inche rod for creek or brook fishing. If this rod had no writing on it, you could not tell the difference between a Fenwick and this Celilo rod. Very well put together. I can't say a negative thing about this fishing rod. I will purchase a couple more to add to my collection of 17. Thank you.

Makes fishing more fun
I fitted my Okuma Ultralite Spinning Reel 4.4:1 3 with this Okuma Celilo lightweight rod and added some 10lbs braid (4lbs dia). Perfect trio for small game fish and my go to for jigging for walleye. This rod is perfect to feel the slightest touch of a small fish. Perfect size for small panfish and medium size fish. I caught a few 10lbs catfish without any issue (just make sure to use the drag accordingly). The ultralight design of this rod makes any size fish a fun battle.

Amazing rod and good
Perfect light action rod to have the feedback you need to really feel the bite and have fun with the little battle. First time using had fun reeling in a few trout. Great value for the price and really love this rod and will buy again. The one piece design gives amazing feel. Thumbs up!
