Bought for parents and myself
I'm a mid-30's person living with bipolar disorder. I was diagnosed at 17 and my father struggled to buy it, while my mom still says "I want to help, but I don't know how." I bought this book for myself and for them. I thought it was a great read and, as a school psychologist, I did learn a few new things. If I recall there was one or two pieces of outdated information, but nothing that deterred from the book itself. My mom has reported finding it helpful, as well. I keep forgetting to give it to my dad. Either way, A+ on being an easy read with clarity to any reader. I highly recommend this book if you are new to a bipolar diagnosis or love someone with the disorder.

Very informative
This book is very informative and there was information in it that I never knew. I wish I had this book 19 years ago when I was diagnosed as bipolar.

Devastating at First, Hopeful at Last
Full of the latest information, it feels scholarly but still approachable. It depends on whether you are prepared to dive in. This book provided my first realization that I was bipolar. Its description of the symptoms, what brings on mania, how it goes undiagnosed, etc. All of this was so helpful. It was also devastating the first time I read it, and caused 30 minutes of crying and pacing angrily about my therapist's office. It was clear that this is me.BUT, it's NOT me. It is one of the many gifts bestowed upon each of us, and we decide how to use these. Some extremely effective tools and therapies have been identified, and I'm excited to say that BIPOLAR DISORDER IS A FEATURE, NOT A BUG.But that could be the bipolar talking :)IYKYK

A decorated General describing what happens when bi-polar strikes after duress.
Part of the fascinating draw is historical and part a riveting infantry combat reality as told by someone at the top of the command chart in an unconventional and chaotic battle story. An excellent and informative read.
