Mastering the Nikon D750 (The Mastering Camera Guide Series) Review: stars - great book with helpful and easy to understand explanations Review: I have waited for a good quality full frame DSLR with decent tracking ability and ... - I recently purchased a Nikon D750 after a 20 year gap in SLR use. I "gave away" my old Canon 35 mm gear to a large and well known Nikon dealer using the small proceeds to help fund the D750. I have waited for a good quality full frame DSLR with decent tracking ability and some condescension to amateurs. Along came the D750! A shout out to DPReviews for their excellent analysis of this camera and it`s competition. My greatest fear is understanding the camera`s myriad of capabilities and of my ability to put them to use. I checked the owner`s manual and purchased a reputable field guide to the D750 but in my untutored and humble opinion Darrell Young`s Mastering the Nikon D750 blows them away. This book takes a step by step, cumulative approach to this camera system. As a beginner I don`t feel overwhelmed but rather hopeful that I am able to make slow and steady progress. Thank you Digital Darrell and thanks also to the Nikoneans Press. I will look to your publications should/when future needs arise.

Much better than the manual that came with the camera!
This book takes you step-by-step through everything the camera can do and every setting you can make. Although the Nikon manual did that, Nikon did not tell you why you would select one option over the other. This book explains the positive and negatives of each setting plus the reasons why. The author also explains which settings he prefers and why. The illustrations are in color and are far easier to follow than Nikon's. This reference greatly expands some of the more obscure capabilities of the camera. I read the Nikon manual first - and did not comprehend some of the techniques. This book explains everything in detail and covers items not even mentioned in the Nikon manual. You need this manual to appreciate your camera! The main reason I picked this manual over the many others was because of its affiliation with the Nikonians.

Thorough and Well Written
As usual, Darrell Young's "Mastering the..." books are well researched and written. I've had the D750 for several months now and his book is helping me learn new things about the camera that I hadn't discovered yet. In order to avoid duplicating himself in multiple places in the book, he gives numerous references to other pages and chapters in the book that requires a certain amount of going back or forward in your reading to see what was being instructed. For that reason of going back/forth, it would be very hard for me personally to read this book in the e-book/Kindle format. That's why I purchased the hard copy.

Excellent Nikon D750 Information Resource
This book is a terrific source of information related to the use of the Nikon D750 DSLR camera. I had this camera nearly a year before acquiring the book and have learned an enormous amount of detail as well as insight that was not obvious previously. I think that anyone who has written a previous review indicating that this book is just a step up from the Nikon issued user's manual has not actually read it. I would estimate that the first 3/4 of the book follows the hierarchy of the D750's various menus. If I were to offer a criticism, it would be that it does that. In my opinion, Nikon's sequencing of the D750 menus is strange. Why does the basic setup menu follow the custom setup menu? Why do these menus follow the playback, photo shooting, and movie shooting menus, respectively? Perhaps the author feels that it would be more confusing to sequence the book differently than the D750's menus. In any case, this is a triviality which I got quickly used to.

Best of the How to D750 Books!
When I bought my new Nikon D750 I ordered 5 Nikon D750 how to books. None of the first 4 books answered from simple Set to Indepth how to questions that I had until I opened the Mastering the Nikon D750 book and everything I wanted was clearly shown in this book. I've been taking photographs since the early to mid 1940s and have owned many different name brand cameras until I purchased the Nikon brand. I first purchased the D90, the D200, and the D300 which I used for years but the D750 left me with many questions which were answered clearly with this book. I highly recommend this book!

Great book for explaining the D750 and
This book walks you through the buttons, setting recommendations, menu contents, metering, exposures, white balance, etc. of the D750. Additionally, there are notes and suggested settings recommendations that help amateur photographers figure out what works for getting started before mastering every setting on the camera. Young uses laymen's terms to describe everything; all in an encouraging tone so that you do not feel like an idiot for not understanding photographic technical jargon . Good description of the main or basic elements of photography - aperture, shutter speed, image quality, focus, ISO, distortion, etc. - along with supporting photographs to illustrate the concept. The insights provided by an experienced photographer/teacher were extremely helpful.

"must have" for D750 owners...
A "must have" for D750 owners. Well written and very comprehensive. Everything (and I mean everything) is cover in a reasonably well ordered manner (a separate section on autofocus full of critical information is towards the end of the book and might be overlooked in the earlier discussion of autofocus). Also, Mr. Young volunteers his preferences for many of the menu choices although, on few occasions, they get a little buried in the discussion. If I had my wish, while his recommendations are highlighted, there would be a final chapter on his menu preferences under various shooting environments. Regardless, an excellent effort and a rewarding one for D750 owners.

No lo he acabado de leer en su totalidad, pero basicamente es como el manual que viene en la camara solamente a color y con los tips del autor... pero nada fuera del otro mundo..

I bought my camera recently and as usual I looked for a book as well. Of course you can discover most of these things on your own, but this book really helps putting you up to speed with the d750. I didn't read the book from the firts until the last page. I mostly read what I was interested in. And it's good. I can't complain.
