FX5 Fine Filter Polishing Pad - 3-Pack, Small Breeds

Well if you have seen any of my review's about Fluval or Seachem product's, you undoubtedly will come to a conclusion that I only use those 2 product's & I buy in bulk for the best price or use Amazon Subscribe & Save. Why? Because they work plane and simple, I have seen the off brands at great price's and even gave them a shot, while the off brand is a bit thinner they do a decent jobI I found that at least in my setups (multiple very large tanks and heavenly stocked African Cichlids and SA/CAs which are very very large and messy fish) the off brands clogged up a bit faster. I am a fantic when it comes to maintaining my tanks. I run a total of 5 Fluval FX6 filters (2 in my African 135 and 3 in my 220 CA/SA along with 3 Fluval FX4 in my other 3 tanks from 30 to 90 gallon) These polishing pads really trap and polish the water combined with The White Fluval pads and water is crystal clear giving the illusion my fish are floating on mid air. These filter pads work in many other canister filters as well with very little effort. Bottom line if you run any of the Fluval FX series these pads are a must and are worth every penny!

Great product and I use it with the quick clear pads for my 112 gallon fancy goldfish tank. Great for the money on Amazon because I can bundle on here. The ease of cleaning is that when you have a canister filter, you have all the pads all in one place. Great products from fluval.

These work wonderfully in the Fluval FX5 - a long time ehiem fan for over 35 years I've been using these filters for larger tanks (up to 300 gal.) in pairs and they're incredibly effective especially for messy fish. Of course, nothing "polishes" the water like a Vortex Diatom Filter which can filter out debris and pathogens down to one micron in size but these are supplementary filters meant only to be used once in a while. These pads although not as effective will remove particles down to about 10 microns. I run four FX5's and replace these about every 60 days. Like the white foam which is for coarser debris it's imperative to replace them or your GPH will suffer and the re direction of water flow not being able to pass through can result in ahigher degree of bypass - an inherant problem with the FX5's in general. These do keep your water on the pristine side and the value on Amazon is excellent.

Works great I have two red eared sliders and a few fish in a 120 gallon tank, I use 2 of these filters in the top basket for getting the big stufd before moving onto my bio rings... My turtles are very messy eaters missing half the food they eat I swear and with this high output of a canister these keep right up with it, I use two of these in the top tray with carbon sock under them then middle tray is loaded with almost 3 boxes of bio rings, and bottom tray with 1 1/2 boxes of bio rings on top with 2 white pads (filter floss) on the bottom mainly to catch particles off of the biorings which put off ceramic sand for the first 2 months or so, I use the white ones now to keep my water crystal clear....love the pump.and.these blue pads! Ps... There is another seller on here who I have found that sells these in a generic for almost half the price same size thickness and structure just half price and without fancy boxing highly sugjest saving the few bucks ;-) have a good one

They're nice for what they're intended to do - capture food/waste particles and clear up the water. The problem is that they tend to clog up fairly quickly. I run two Fluval Fx6 filters on my 240g tank with 2 pads in each filter - one in the top tray, one in the bottom along with the biofoam and bio ball media. The upper most pad will be the first to clog up and it only takes a couple of weeks. You can get by with rinsing them out for 2-3 uses but after that it's usually time for a new one. I'm considering using up the last of what I have and then just pull them completely. Pulling the Fx6 open every 2 weeks to clean the pads and clear the flow is a bit tedious but not horrible. Bottom line - good product but fairly high maintenance.

I read over and over that the other (white pads) clog too easily and the blue pads (these) work better for water clarity. I put these in my FX6 used for a turtle setup and the water has been crystal clear since the tank completed its cycle. I have never used the white pads, but I really see no reason to try them while these are working great. I did a full review and a detailed setup on the FX6 for my turtle setup you can read if you interested in setting one up for turtles. Overall I think these are excellent pads and I will continue to use them.

These are really nice and well made pads! I'm using them in my FX5 for a while now. I usually split each pad in half as for me it is working better this way. It polishes the water and keeps it clear. I use 2 half pads in the filter, every time I clean the filter, I rinse one half in the filter water to keep the beneficial bacteria and pressure wash the second half using the garden hose to keep it looks like new. I change the pad every other cleaning. The price is reasonable.

Bu malzeme öyle aman aman bir temizlik yapmadığı gibi kısa sürede tıkanarak debiyi düşürüyor. FX4 için 2 kere denedim. İkincisinde filtre içinde seramik boncukları ve ikinci kırmızı tepsiyi çıkarmama rağmen 2 haftada tıkandı. Fluval'den beklemezdim. Tavsiye etmiyorum.

Top quality item, does exactly what it says on the tin. Made with decent material so as long as your tank maintenance is on point and filter set up is correct they last a fairly long time so good value for money. Easy to use, I place mine pre wool as water is about exit this way it stays cleaner as the more coarse sponges do the hard work. Hasn't made any changes to the noise level of my filter and sizing is perfect. Fits inside the filter with no adjustments.
