What a great device. Easy to set up and operate. I wish I had known about this product two years ago. Highly recommend.

Awsome product

Not worth the effort in trying to archive. Sometimes it works other times the file is just corrupted. The times that it does work, the videos are glitchy with multiple temp freezes, studders, and such.Not reliable!

I picked this to test on my workstation to be used to input other devices into my PC via OBS. I use these devices to input consoles, laptops, mini computers and testing machines into my workstation without needing to change out my monitor cables. I also use this to capture output from these devices for reviews and other videos.I plugged this in and it worked out of the box on windows 10. No need for drivers or other installations. In OBS however the device struggled under 60fps by having color accuracy problems. I wish I could screenshot it to show what I mean but the colors didn't come out in the same way in my pictures or screenshots (at least to where I could convey this in a review).Works well enough if I am just recording and don't mind the reduction in color accuracy but it looks like it is using a lower chroma sub-sampling.Latency was worse than most other units on this device as it was over 100ms most of the time in 60fps.... switching to 30fps increased the latency over 100ms but it also fixed some of the issues with color..Overall I chose to not use this device due to the complications.

This box does record from HDMI, including from my cable box. It tends to glitch at the beginning of some recordings with frozen or stuttering video for a few to around 30 seconds. After that, everything is normal. I've resorted to starting my recordings around 30 seconds early and then cutting out that part. I can live with that, but it would have been nice if this were completely glitch free.UPDATE: I traced the glitches at the beginning of the recordings to the external hard drives I was using to save the video. (Western Digital My Passport). These hard drives serve me well for file storage, but there is something about the interface with this device that causes problems. I had a spare computer SSD (Crucial 240 gig) and a USB adaptor. I get no glitches when using this to save the video. I don't have anything else to experiment with, so you are on your own to figure out what will work well for you. Perhaps just a solid state external drive would do the trick. I'm also going to mention that I never got this to work properly with two flash drives. The recordings stop suddenly.

Very simple to use. Has worked every time I have used it. Other devices that do the same thing that cost 10 times as much you can see on a monitor if you are recording and how much space is left on the harddrive. You can not on this device, you just trust that once you hit record it still is recording. File size is small, couple of GB per hour of use. Overall I am happy with it and would buy again. Price was excellent.

I needed a new HDMI recorder to record hour-long video. My old one had gotten a little intermittent. I liked this one because it had the option of NTFS formatting on the thumb drive. This meant that it would record the entire 1 hour on 1 file. The problem came when I edited this file with iMovie. It edited ok but would not export. Errored out each time.I then switched to a FAT32 thumb drive. This recorded 4 or 5 segments of video. All looked well and these segments edited together well in iMovie. It was then I noticed a 2 second blank in the video between 2 segments. This happened a 2nd time. The audio kept recording but there was a 2 second blank in the video. Not acceptable.I returned the product for a refund.

My only complaint is that I wish it would just record the entire program in one take. It doesn't pause it starts a new file every 17 to 18 minutes. It records crystal clear. You can't even tell it's a recording.
