Which side should i put close to my body, the hard plate side or the soft side? No heat can be felt if using the soft side.

I have been using the Thermotex heating pad for 2 years and give it a 5 star rating, except for the price. Always used the "hard" non padded side with the Thermotex logo against my body. After reading some of the comments, I thought I was using the pad incorrectly, so I called Termotex and was told the "hard" side (logo side) should be placed against you body. This may be why several commenters gave it a lower rating, stating that they could not feel the heat.

What is the difference between the gold and platinum besides a few inches?

The gold edition is not flexible and primarily is used for the back. The platinum one is flexible and does conform to the body such as the knee in addition to use on the back. Hope this helps.

It is good of you to ask. This is a Calgary, Alberta, Canada product. There a few dealers in the US, lots more in Canada. The electrical components are made in Canada, Thermotex having a Calgary Alta address. The cover is made in China. The "face" of the cover is 100% nylon, sort of like a velveteen. The backing is 50% nylon and 50% cotton. This is all according to the tag on my Thermotex Platinum. It comes with two velcro straps; a small one which I use for knees, etc. and a larger one for backs, hips, and so on. This is a very sturdy pad, and I very much like what it does for me.

Does this emit high levels of EMF from the cord / area coming out of the pad?

The Thermotex Therapy products are electrical and use standard 110/120 volt power. The EMF emitted is the same as other small appliances in your home such as a light bulb.
