Exactly what I was looking for
I bought the Panasonic cordless KX-TG985SK model at Costco . I needed an extra handset. I checked with Panasonic and they told me this handset model is compatible (it is not exactly the handsets' model that comes with KX-TG985SK; in particular the recharging bases of the two handset models are not compatible with each other), so I ordered it. The 2 batteries that came with the handset were completely empty, so I used 2 old batteries from a previous Panasonic cordless (my guess is that the 2 batteries are OK, just empty, and can be charged via the handset base; but I didn't want to wait so didn't check). In no time I registered the handset and it became functional. Only 2 days in use so far, but seems to be just fine!

Was to be an extra hand set for existing system and was not compatible and did not work.

Satellite type of phone
This was a satellite phone,therefore I couldn't program it and was unable to use it..
