Good quality.
The transformer I built for 1.8 - 54 mhz is very flat and low loss as measured by my VNA.

Great Product, Great Service, and even when things don't go perfectly, Greater Reliability
The folks at FW Electronics are great. This was a product I needed and wanted. I ordered it and the product arrived quickly and painlessly. Nearly all the way good.I opened the packaging and noticed a discrepancy between what I ordered and what I received. Quickly a mistake was realized and communicated to FW-Electronics. Of course, these discrepancies can cause problems if you aren't careful. FW-Electronics sent a replacement just as quickly and without additional cost to me. For most everyone, these are the critical details. Product sold, good product, fast turnaround, etc. All of those things I report about FW - Electronics. Here's the important part of the review:This company made a mistake, initially. These things happen and nobody was upset. Understanding that toroid core mixes are very specific for use in amateur radio applications (as in other applications). So there's a confidence concern in my case when I lack the test equipment to identify the different mixes.FW - Electronics helped me visually identify the core types and sent the correct (though properly labeled) toroid cores without cost to me, and let me keep the incorrect toroids (which I still will readily put to good use at my QTH or to a deserving ham learning to use RF chokes). My point in this detail is I appreciate great products and great service. But I appreciate it so much more when things *don't* go well and the company and staff make it right.Nobody's perfect, but making it perfect when it isn't shows me the company appreciates the customers' work product and respects their own.I'll keep coming back to FW!73 DE K6RCS

A Hole In One
This core looks good and came packaged ok and was not cracked chipped or broken. Until I actually build the 49:1 RF transformer and test it I won't totally be sure if everything is good.

It is a 1.4" toroid not a 2.0" toroid
I have not built my transformer yet, but I noticed that in the toroid description it says is is 2" OD. That is not true. It is 1.4"... that is what FT-140-43 means.

Made a good balun for my EFHW
I used it to make a 1:49 transformer for my End Fed Half Wave antenna and It's worked great. It came well packed.

A handy trick for covering torrids before winding with enameled wire.
This is just what I wanted to use for a tapped coil that I am making. Before winding the enameled magnet wire on it you would want to wrap it up with vinyl electrical tape. I didn't have any, silly me. But like they say, necessity is the mother of invention and I would like to pass along my latest fix. I remembered that I have some of the streachy bandage wrap that you find in drug stores and the like. It sticks to itself but not anything else. I cut a piece that was wide enough to stretch inside the torrid from each side overlapping each other, and long enough to go around the outside of the torrid at least once, more than that by the time it's stretched tightly. The strip in the picture is what I trimmed off from the width, and I used a longer piece than the picture shows. Stretch the bandage around the torrid first. Then stretch and force one edge inside the torrid and then the other edge overlapping each other. It covers the torrid smoothly with no wrinkles, and don't stick to your fingers like electrical tape does.
