The DualSense is a genuinely different experience in ways that take a session or two to fully appreciate. The adaptive triggers are the standout feature. Games that implement them properly use the resistance to communicate something you simply don't get from visual or audio feedback alone. Drawing a bow, applying brakes, firing different weapon types, each has a distinct physical quality that adds a layer of immersion that sounds like a gimmick until you've actually used it for a few hours and then tried going back to a standard trigger. The difference is immediately noticeable. The haptic feedback is similarly impressive when developers use it well. Granular, directional and specific in a way that rumble motors never managed. Rain on different surfaces, footsteps on gravel versus grass, the subtle tension before something breaks. It contributes to the experience without drawing attention to itself, which is exactly what good feedback should do. Build quality feels premium throughout. The weight is well balanced, the grip texture is comfortable during long sessions and the overall finish has a solidity that justifies the price. The touchpad is larger and more responsive than its predecessor and the built in microphone is genuinely useful for quick communication without reaching for a headset. Battery life is the one area that falls short of excellent. The PlayStation 5 DualSense Controller is a good controller but has a problem that most experienced gamers will be aware of. That issue is stick drift. This is where the controller drifts of center by a small amount, but enough for games to detect and send characters, vehicles...etc moving on their own without any input from yourself. Why hasn't the stick drift issue been fixed, well there is a lot of money in selling replacement controllers. I have gone through a number of controllers and have only one where I needed to replace it because the internal battery was actually the problem, where it would only last 30 minutes or so from a full charge while a good battery in the controller will last for several hours. With that said, the controller is generally good and should last you quite a while - obviously depending on how much you play games and how hard you use the controller.

Fin dal primo tocco, si percepisce che Sony ha fatto un lavoro eccezionale nel design e nell'ergonomia. La sua forma è più voluminosa e sagomata rispetto al DualShock 4, offrendo una presa più salda e confortevole, anche dopo ore di gioco. ​Ma la vera magia del DualSense risiede nelle sue caratteristiche uniche: il feedback aptico e i grilletti adattivi. ​Feedback aptico: Dimenticate la semplice vibrazione di una volta. Il feedback aptico simula una gamma incredibilmente vasta di sensazioni. Der DualSense ist zwar etwas größer als der DualShock Controller der PS4, liegt aber hervorragend in der Hand und ist extrem wertig verarbeitet. Die Optik ist sehr modern und gefällt mir persönlich sehr gut. Da die Tastenanordnung identisch geblieben ist, fühlt man sich als erfahrener Playstation-Spieler auf diesem Controller gleich wie "zu Hause". Der Tastendruck aller Tasten ist absolut präzise und wirkt an keiner Stelle "schwammig". Das haptische Feedback wurde im Gegensatz zum "Rumpel-Motor" des DualShock Controllers der PS4 deutlich verbessert. Man kann förmlich spüren, was gerade in dem Spiel passiert. Feine Bewegungen wie Wind lassen sich ebenso gut spüren wie auch das typische Rumpeln der Schweißnähte, wenn man mit einem Zug über Schienen fährt. Durch die adaptiven Trigger (L2/R2) fühlt man den Widerstand z.B. beim Betätigen eines Bremspedals oder dem Spannen eines Bogens. Zudem hat der DualSense Controller einen eingebauten Lautsprecher (für spezielle Effekte in Spielen) sowie ein Mikrofon. Beide sind von der Klangqualität durchaus akzeptabel. Über das Mikrofon kann man an Sprach-Chats teilnehmen, und es lassen sich sogar über die Spracherkennung der PS5 Texte diktieren, so dass man nicht die On-Screen-Tastatur verwenden muss. Die Spracherkennung funktioniert erstaunlich gut. Für eine bessere Qualität bei Sprach-Chats sollte natürlich unbedingt ein Headset verwendet werden, welches direkt über den im Controller integrierten Klinkenanschluss angeschlossen werden kann. Das Touchpad in der oberen Mitte des Controllers fällt im Vergleich zum DualShock etwas größer aus, ist präziser und lässt sich dadurch erheblich besser bedienen. Kleine LEDs unterhalb des Touchpads zeigen an, welcher Spieler man ist (1-4). Die LED-Farbe an den Seiten des Touchpads passt sich automatisch dem Spielgeschehen an (ähnlich dem DualShock Controller auf der PS4). Zudem verfügt der DualSense Controller über ein Gyroscope, so dass die PS5 in der Lage ist, die Neigung des Controllers zu erkennen und auf das Spiel zu übertragen. Das Gyroscope arbeitet sehr präzise und überträgt die Handbewegungen ohne störende Ruckler, was ein häufiges Problem bestehender Gyroscope-Implementierungen ist. PS4 Spiele können sowohl mit dem DualShock, als auch mit dem DualSense Controller gespielt werden. PS5 Spiele hingegen funktionieren nur mit dem DualSense Controller. Eine Nutzung am PC/über Steam ist auch ohne weiteres möglich. Dies kann mittels Kabelverbindung erfolgen (USB-C auf USB-A / USB-C auf USB-C) oder über Bluetooth. Um den DualSense Controller in den Kopplungsmodus zu versetzen, muss man die Playstation- und die Share-Taste gleichzeitig gedrückt halten, bis die LED-Leisten neben dem Touchpad anfangen zu blinken. Bei der Nutzung am PC können momentan jedoch folgende Funktionen nicht verwendet werden: Haptisches Feedback (Rumble), adaptive Trigger, Touchpad, Gyroscope. Dies kann sich in der Zukunft noch ändern, sollte Sony mal offizielle Treiber für den PC veröffentlichen. Der verbaute Akku hat zwar mehr Leistung als der des DualShock Controllers, jedoch wirkt sich dies nicht auf die Laufzeit aus. Je nach Nutzung kann er bis zu 15 Stunden durchhalten. Spiele wie Astro's Playroom, die dem Controller wirklich viel abverlangen, saugen ihn hingegen schon nach etwa 4 Stunden leer, denn durch die verbesserten Rumble-Motoren und adaptiven Trigger ist der Stromverbrauch natürlich auch etwas höher. Im Durchschnitt liegt die Laufzeit aber bei 8 bis 9 Stunden. Die Ladezeit des DualSense Controllers über den integrierten USB-C Anschluss liegt bei ungefähr drei Stunden. Man muss also auch bei leerem Akku nicht zu lange darauf warten, bis es wieder weitergeht. Die Ladezeit ist natürlich stark abhängig vom verwendeten Netzteil. Der alte DualShock Controller wurde mit 4,5 W geladen. Bei USB-C sind deutlich höhere Leistungen möglich. Achtet also darauf, dass ihr ein Netzteil mit mindestens 7,5 W - besser noch mit 15 W verwendet - um die Ladezeiten möglichst gering zu halten. Ich habe die Ladestation von Sony gleich mitbestellt, welche anstelle des USB-C Anschlusses den proprietären Anschluss auf der Unterseite verwendet. Hierbei kann ich sicher sein, dass die Controller mit der optimalen Leistung geladen werden. Ansonsten kann ein zweiter Controller auch nicht schaden, um keine Unterbrechungen beim Spielen zu riskieren. --Fazit Mit diesem Controller hat sich Sony wirklich selbst übertroffen, und alleine dieser verdient den Namen "Next-Gen". Um sämtliche Funktionen sowie die Unterschiede des haptischen Feedbacks kennenzulernen, empfehle ich die sehr gelungene Tech-Demo 'Astro's Playroom', die auf der Konsole bereits vorinstalliert ist. Bisher konnte ich keinen Nachteil dieses neuen Controllers feststellen. Er trägt einen großen Teil zum Next-Gen Erlebnis bei und ist eine willkommene Weiterentwicklung des in die Jahre gekommenen DualShock Controllers.
