THINK STRAIGHT: Change Your Thoughts, Change Your Life : Darius Foroux: desertcart.in: Books Review: good book - worth reading Review: Affordable, quick read on brain matters - I'd posted a review a while back but was rejected by desertcart saying I shared a third-party link. That party link was from goodreads, which is currently owned by desertcart itself. LOL! 🤪 I posted the entire book review copy-pasted from that site below. Product-wise the book is made of cheap materials as expected from price category and is a steal for the buck. However, byte-size reassuring chapters of this book is good for quick read. Price was 134₹ back in January 30th but increased to 149₹ now(March 20). My review on goodreads: -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- A self-help book. Was recommended by our manager during a recent scrum call. This one is a quick read. Or can be read slowly or read as reference whenever required. This book is short and to the point. Very few scientific papers mentioned in this book. Chapters are lectures from personal experience. Book can be treated as ready reckoner or refresher after reading bigger self-books like "Thinking, Fast and Slow " by Daniel Kahneman, or one of the books on pragmatic thinking mentioned by the author of this book at the end. Last year, I'd read "Autopilot: The Art & Science of Doing Nothing" by Andrew Smart. It emphasized the time to relax and let the brain do the thinking. He emphasized the "Default Mode Network", that gets activated when we're idle. This idea is briefly surfaced, though not exactly, on chapters like "No More Quick Decisions." But majority of chapters in THINK STRAIGHT are against trusting what mind tells you without scientific backing. At the end of the book, the author has ridiculed scientific theories as useless to day-to-day life and even suggested that scientists have "wasted their time on abstract ideas and theories." This was a quote by William James in 19th century who has not witnessed the prowess of theoretical physicists and their applications of theories in 20th century. Including such quotes will lead to wrong impression of thinking minds like scientists and philosophers for the future generations. Granted, scientific theories are not useful for day-to-day life and also his audience, but there are others who are knowledge workers and need their mind to work a lot. Shouldn't give an outdated opinion demoralizing a section of society, who's work might be beneficial to human society and planet earth indirectly. Will go through this book again for general motivation on training the brain to focus on important things, though I don't agree with some parts of the book. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

First book that i have purchased and read completely😀
Think Straight by Darius Foroux is the first book I’ve read, and it has been a transformative experience. Every page I turned gave me a moment of realization, making me pause and reflect on my own thoughts and decisions. The book’s core idea is simple yet powerful: our thoughts shape our lives, and by thinking clearly, we can make better decisions, reduce stress, and live a more meaningful life. Foroux presents practical insights on decluttering the mind, avoiding overthinking, and focusing on what truly matters. His writing is straightforward, making complex ideas easy to understand and apply in daily life. What I loved most about this book is its ability to create self-awareness. As I read, I found myself questioning my own thought patterns and recognizing where I had been holding myself back. The book doesn’t just offer theories; it provides actionable advice that I could implement immediately. If you're someone who struggles with overthinking or wants to improve clarity in decision-making, Think Straight is a must-read. It’s a book that doesn’t just give knowledge but encourages real change in how we approach life. ⭐ Rating: 5/5

Think straight is short and quick
A quick and short explanation for think straight. What i like the most in this book is things to consider for decision making, its short but relatable, if anyone going to read this book to know the strategy for think straight, they find it less. But its good for those who wanted to just explore what it is. Overall good content.

Shortest Motivative
Actual I am trying to make a habit to read atleast one page in the book per day but successfully I have not follow my habit😅 and had a goal to read some chapters atleast in a week this time I have achieved ✊. What makes to choose this book?? In the beginning to build an habit to achieve any goal first we need to been focused and I have searched for a book to stop overthinking, overcome from the negative thoughts as we all have this problems 😂. Impressed a lot for Title and diagrams of the book and decided to purchase this book. With very curiosity started reading as this is my first book. At the beginning felt I got the right book at right time connected very much for every content and examples from the authors life🙂. In every chapter clearly shared his experience how he overcome from the thinking unnecessary things and what steps he have taken to make things organised to achieve his goals. Will have the lot of chapters with short and crisp Motivative notes. Some things feels funny (like taking Quick Decisions)but with out knowing our self will do in our daily life. One of favourite chapter if MY MONEY RULES which is very important thing in our personal life and I have connected for this chapter. Definitely our thinking will get changed towards the things will do and the decisions we are taking. This book completely about journey of the author and complete his thinking process of achieving his goals. Some times will feel we are getting very short summary from this book and will get very few examples. For the people who don't have habit of reading books like me it's good to start with this book.
