This is american skullcap; not chinese skullcap, right? i read they are used for different purposes.

Yes, the difference can be seen in the name of the plant it is made from. Chinese Skullcap is made from Scutellaria baicalensis and 'American' Skullcap is made from Scutellaria lateriflora. They are totally different and I also have made the mistake of ordering the wrong one, the bottle is still sitting unopened. I used this extract for a while but found the powders/capsules to be as effective and easier to use. I take a Skullcap lateriflora and a Boswellia serrata just before bedtime... Very effective and fast acting.

What does restore and tone mean on front of bottle?

Per the description, it is an herb that’s helps the natural chemical balance in the nervous system. I have had success treating my tremors with the tincture.

How does this compare to the Hawaii Pharm skullcap?

I have tried both brands and perfer Herb Pharm. The Hawaii brand does not seem to be as concentrated as the Herb Pharm. I believe the Herb Pharm brand for all tinctures they manufacture is a better brand and more effective.
