Great machine well worth the price
Great machine! Updated a ten year old Janome which is a fine machine, but this model is very advanced and easier to use. The YouTube videos are concise and make it easy to transition to this model.

Warning: Possible defective electronics of Janome Memory Craft 8200
I purchased the Memory Craft Horizon 8200QCP during the pandemic at the end of November 2020. It's an adequate machine, but stitch quality doesn't compare to my Bernina 930. Among other sewing projects, I'm an enthusiastic quilter, and I thought this Janome would be perfect for piecing and quilting.A recent incident using the Janome was startling and could have been dangerous. I was sewing with it and lifted my foot off the pedal and the machine continued to sew rapidly. It was almost as if the pedal had stuck in the fastest mode. The only way I could turn the machine off was by using the on/off switch at the side of the machine.I contacted the store which Amazon had used as the original supplier, and it was suggested that the pedal was defective and could have caused the problem. So I went online and ordered a Janome electronic replacement. Tossed the old pedal, which I now realize was a mistake, and installed the new one.Today is the second time I have used the Janome since replacing the pedal. After sewing for several hours, I lifted my foot off the pedal and it continued to race at top speed. This time the only way I could turn the machine off was by pulling the plug from the wall outlet. The Stop/Start button on the face of the machine didn't work. This was SCARY.I have been sewing since 4 when my mother sat with me at her 1948 Singer sewing machine. Over 50 years later, I continue to sew on a regular basis. I have used a Singer, JCPenney, Juki and my all time favorite Bernina 930 and never had an occurrence like this. I will be contacting the distributor tomorrow. I'm assuming that this type of issue would be a warranty repair.UPDATE 7/6/23Contacted the retailer and was told I needed to get in touch with Janome directly. The warrantee on the electronics on this model is 2 years. $2000 machine with a very limited warrantee. Emailed Janome but have not received a reply. Will update when I do.FINAL UPDATE JULY 24, 2023Wrote to the president of Janome America in Mahwah, NJ. He forwarded my letter to customer service which arranged for my machine to be shipped and returned following evaluation. Today I received my 8200 QCP back. The foot controller is not operating. So the original problem still exists.Final: Returned again to Janome, and the machine is now in working order.

Excellent machine for under $5K
This machine has been in constant use for almost two months. I am really getting into machine quilting my own quilts and am grateful to have a machine with a large harp area, reliable stitching quality and many features of a far, far more expensive machine. The dual feed attachment, ability to change out the needle plates, enhanced lighting, the easy to use controls, knee bar, and automatic thread cutter are all valuable features. Yes, it is a bit heavy (note though that I’m in my 70s), but it is not impossible to haul around if necessary. I had a Janome before that was fine, but this machine is wonderful!

This machine is a great value for a mid-arm quilting machine!
I received my (incomplete) order (Prime) within 6 days. The Janome Memory Craft Horizon 8200 qcp machine is awesome, very quiet and comes with many features, accessories and feet. The DVD is very helpful. When my machine arrived, most of the order was there; however, my order was missing the 2 packs of leather needles, 2 packs of universal needles, and the Janome overcast “C” foot as described in the package.

Error codes within three weeks.
This machine is wonderful however it is giving me error codes 1 and 7. Amazon referred me to the manufacturer/seller so we will see if it continues to be "wonderful".

It's a whole other level of sewing!
I used a Bernina in the 1980s till the mid-90s when I moved out of the US and got rid of it due to incompatible electrical plugs overseas. I regretted it 4 years later when I returned and kept looking for lower-cost replacements and being slightly dissatisfied with the Brothers or Singers out there. Then I got zero percent financing to try this Janome and wow, it's truly like a whole other level of sewing than using the Brother and Singer brands. It does remind me of my Bernina 30 years ago, which essentially was able to sew silk without my touching it. This Janome could probably do that too but it's also able to do extremely heavy-duty sewing -- which is what I do more of now -- like quilting through 3 to 6 layers! The walking foot is great and i love that the presser foot lifter has two settings--just up enough to slip fabric around and up twice as high to move multiple layers with the walking foot on. It's a dream to work on this Janome. I only slightly regret not holding out for the Babylock Aria which was the same price-ish but not as easily financed. Amazon gave me a great offer and I couldn't refuse and have zero regrets. This is a fantastic mid-arm (not regular sized or longarm but in between) perfect for quilters!
