As with most of the instructions with these foreign units, they suck, but the unit is fairly intuitive an easy to hook up. I found that every question answered above was incorrect. Just remember to hook the battery to the controller first, so it can recognize the voltage. I'm using 2 36 volt solar panels wired parallel which produces18 amps in full sunlight. I'm also using two 12 volt batteries wired in series to make 24 volts. I first connected the batteries, and the little battery icon on the display lit up, and the controller showed 25.6 volts. I then connected my solar panel, and the little solar panel icon lit up. The system has worked flawlessly.

They seem like a good value for the $. The volt meter is off by about 0.1 volt but not a big concern. I like to check with a good multimeter anyway. A current reading would be a nice addition but maybe the microcontroller only has one analog input. I see the one with the lithium battery option has a wider range of float voltage adjustment which would be nice on this one. But all considered I'd buy it again.
