Where are the containers made?

It does not say "made in xxx" anywhere. It does list plastic packaging Corp west springfield, MA on bottom of container. The containers are BPA free and hold up well. They do not stain after freezing tomato sauce.

I am looking for containers to hold dry food items such as Cheerios, and these will be opened several times a week over time. Will these hold up well?

I think so...I use/wash/re-use many times before discarding the containers. Mostly, they disappear to other homes with leftovers in them and never come back, which is why I started using them instead of more expensive containers :-)

Are these sterilized or do you wash prior to use?

This type of container is almost never washed prior to use when used in a restaurant setting. That being said, for home use I would wash them because I'm sure there is some sort of residual something on them. Also, the number ordered is few enough (dozens instead of hundreds for restaurants) and time is less scarce, so why not wash them? At least give them a quick rinse before using them.

Are these containers any different than the ones you get from restaurants with takeout soup and chili?

The only kind I've ever gotten with takeout were Styrofoam. We've been using these to free our homemade chili, spaghetti sauce and soup. So far they're holding up great.
