Life changing! I'm flabbergasted, this is THE ONE!!!
I DON'T EVER WRITE REVIEWS BUT...WOW! I have a reactive dog who also pulls on the leash with absolutely all of her might. Absolutely chokes herself and has dislocated my arm multiple times! We've tried EVERYTHING over the last year including professional training, which did help, but she was still really hurting me when she was set off by something and it made taking her for walks nearly impossible, and the biggest chore ever. This was a last hail mary, I've tried many other tools for pulling and none have worked, I didn't have high hopes at all. But lo and behold, I tried this out yesterday and she's a WHOLE NEW DOG! And not just the pulling. This design makes it pretty much impossible for her to pull in the first place. You can see when she's trying to pull, but it's so ineffective that I can keep the leash strapped around my wrist and not even feel the slightest tug! Not even 10 minutes into the first walk with this harness on, she gave up on even trying to pull and we had a WONDERFUL walk that was enjoyable for us both! This didn't just help with her pulling, it's helping with her reactivity too, for a couple of reasons. 1. I'm more calm, because I KNOW that I'm actually in control of my dog and I don't need to sweat it. 2. When she can't lunge to the end of the leash, she just doesn't even start barking for some reason. We're able to walk past houses with other dogs barking at us like it's nothing. This is monumental for her, as she is usually lunging barking and practically foaming at the mouth. I took her to the pet store with this harness on last night and you guys... Someone said 'Wow! Your dog is SO well behaved' Are you kidding me? If only they knew! This little harness is the only thing that's keeping her from choosing evil right now! This is NOT a replacement for training, but it makes training POSSIBLE. It's so hard to train when your dog is largely unsuccessful and you have nothing to praise. This opens up that opportunity and makes me(& other people) feel much safer, because it's obvious that I'm finally in control of my dog!

Price is right, no pulling. Good job Hammy!!
It was effective. Hammy didn’t, or couldn’t(?) pull. Even though he somehow walked out of the belly strap like Houdini. Using a collar he would dislocate your shoulder on the shortest walk. This was zero pull. I usually use a gentle lead but don’t want anything on or near his face and neck. Ham has an inoperable and fatal tumor behind his soft palate, so no more collars for him. This was maybe 2” too big for him. I will donate it to my vet’s office and I am ordering him a small. Hopefully that won’t be too tight. He’s 12.8 kilos sooo…I will report back.

Good harness, but may not work if you have a pomeranian!
I'm not sure what rating to give this harness–it seems like it does its job well and it's well-made, but it ultimately did not work for my pomeranian, and I wanted to alert other pom owners that this harness may not be a good match for the breed because of their stature and coat. I took my pom on a couple of walks with the harness and it did help a lot with pulling–the second he tried to pull too far, it gently guided him back and prevented the pull. For dogs that can be properly fitted and aren't super low to the ground, I think the harness is awesome and will be a great tool for getting them to walk without pulling. Unfortunately, the issues I had are: 1) because my dog is so low to the ground, attempting to leave any slack on the leash at all when it was clasped to his chest (vs his back, on a traditional harness) made it too easy for him to step over the leash and get tangled in it. I had to stop constantly to reposition the leash, which was annoying to both of us. And when the leash wasn't getting tangled in his front legs, it was flopping around and hitting him in the face/chin area, causing him to try and bite at it. I think it's just because there's so little distance between his chin, chest, and feet/the ground that there's no room for the leash to hang freely without either being in his face or under his feet. And there needs to be at least a little slack when using the harness, or else every movement the dog makes results in him being jerked to the side. I don't want him pulling, but I also want him to be able to move without getting yanked around every two inches! It can also be dangerous–before I realized what he was doing, he tried to pull up some stairs (in my building, as I was getting ready to unclip him and get in the elevator), and he got simultaneously jerked back and tangled in the leash, which caused the leash to wrap around his body/legs and he tumbled back down the stairs, unable to free his legs or stop the fall. This all happened in a matter of about two seconds, so I wasn't able to intervene before it happened. Thankfully he was okay, but it was scary! I'm working on training him not to pull, but we're not there yet, and I don't like the idea that in a split second he can pull and end up in a dangerous situation like that. If he tried to pull up (or down) stairs in a regular harness, he'd just reach the end of the lead and not be able to go any further, vs being yanked back down/up. After all that, I thought maybe the harness just wasn't fitted properly the first time around (even though I'd spent a considerable amount of time adjusting it, but that brings me to issue 2): his small stature and extremely full coat made attempting to fit the harness basically impossible. I couldn't really follow the fitting instructions as-written, because he just has so much coat that simply laying the straps on his body and then tightening them to the appropriate length was impossible. I could either fit the harness on top of his coat, which meant it wasn't tight enough once it worked its way down past his fluff, or else nestle it down into the coat to get it closer to his skin–but then I couldn't see the harness at all to tell whether it was positioned properly. When the harness is fully clipped on, you literally can't even tell that he's wearing it, let alone tell if it's sitting where it's supposed to. I tried putting it on him loosely and then adjusting it while it was on his body, but adjusting the fiddly little straps while fighting against a massive amount of coat also wasn't a good solution. I tried different methods of fitting it for about an hour before deciding to just go back to his old back-clip harness and accept that it's just going to take a little longer to train him in loose leash walking than I'd hoped. :( For most dogs, I think this is a great solution, but f you have a pom (or another short and fluffy dog), be aware that it may be hard to fit and hard for your dog to walk in it.

It REALLY works! I can finally walk my dog!!!
My dog is a 24 lb pug mix. She is sweet and wonderful but nobody wanted to walk her! She pulls so badly and constantly. She slips out of any harness we buy her. It's awful! Ugh! She's getting chubby from lack of exercise and missing out on lots of good family fun. This harness was my last hope. I am blown away! Even after I read all the five star reviews, I was skeptical. I bought this harness and got same-day shipping. I walked her that evening and I couldn't believe my eyes! The first time she pulled, the harness snugged up on her chest and gently turned her to face me; she stopped immediately. She turned and kept walking, but slower and more mindfully. I gave her some slack in the extendable leash and then locked it down--as soon as she pulled again she immediately stopped again. That's it. Pulling is over. My 13 year old is now walking her every day and loving it! She doesn't pull, she minds the "heel" commands. If she gets too excited and starts to pull, she stops as soon as the harness snugs around her. She's starting to walk better with just her regular collar and no harness at all. This harness appears to be breaking her pulling habit entirely!! Here is what you need to know with fitting. My dog is a mixed breed and is barrel-chested for her size. I really worried that I would never get the right fit. I have a hard time buying any harness for her. If I get it large enough for her chest, it's too large for her paws and neck and she can slip it easily. We've been through many. Not the case with this one! Fitting: Measure the largest part of your dog's chest. Buy the size that most narrowly matches that chest measurement. My dog's chest is 24 inches, which fits in the size range for the Medium which is for 20-28" chest. I took her PetsMart and tried the medium on her and it was HUGE! I couldn't make it tight enough to stay on her. So I ordered the Small/Medium which is for 19-25" chest--a more narrow range for her chest measurement. I was worried it would borderline on too tight. It isn't. I had to snug it up quite a bit to make it fit her. As for putting it on and taking it off: Don't unbuckle everything!!!! It's too confusing. You only need to work with the buckle for the chest strap, which buckles at the side of the chest so you can actually see it!! These harnesses are all 2-color. The strap that buckles around her chest is the second color--in my case silver. The main color, in my case black, is the whole rest of the harness. Only unbuckle the part that buckles around your dog's chest. (See the attached photos) Stand in front of your dog. Hold the harness so the leash loop is facing you and dangling at the bottom (the leash loop is the metal circle on which you will clip the leash to the harness--it will be on your dog's chest, not the top of the back as with other harnesses). Slip the harness over your dog's head and then just buckle the colored strap under the chest and you're all set. Take it off by unbuckling the chest strap and slipping it right over your dog's head. It's not a tight squeeze and is actually so much easier than trying to slip both paws into the leg holes while holding your dog down and buckling the strap with your third arm. This is the easiest time I've ever had getting her into a harness. You need to know that this harness will loosen itself after some time walking. Not it's strongest feature, but I couldn't even take off a star for this as it is such a miracle to be able to take our dog with us to parks, walks around the neighborhood, etc. There are 4 points on this harness that can be adjusted to fit your dog's individual shape and size. This is very much a strong point for me because my dog is not perfectly proportional. When you first take it out of the box, put it on your dog and check to see which points need adjustment. I can adjust it while it's on her, but it's easier if I take it off, adjust, and put it back on. I don't have to adjust it in the middle of walks. But you should check the adjustment every time you put it on your dog. Pros: My dog doesn't pull anymore (life altering)!!! Great price (Amazon charged half what pet stores charge--I did not get a discount for this review!); easy to put on/take off; quality construction; 4 points of adjust-ability for a good custom fit. Cons: none so far (need for periodic fit adjustment is not a big deal to me) I would recommend this to a friend. I actually recommended it to a total stranger--an older lady in the pet store (without her dog) who said she has a Min-Pin she can't walk or take anywhere because he pulls her so much. I was so enthusiastic she bought one right then and there. My dog was standing there being an angel, wearing her Easy Walk Harness. Please tell me if you found my review helpful. Please ask if you have questions. Thanks and good luck! I hope this solves your fur baby pulling problem. It certainly solved mine.

This works
I have a German Shephard Dog/Husky mix we adopted from a local shelter. We've had GSDs in the past but none of them pulled while walking on a leash like this guy. He was about 18 months old when we got him, he's very smart and easily trained with the exception of the pulling. We tried to work with him on the pulling buying many different items including a full harness with front leash attachment, choke collar, prong collar, gentle collar, and much to my resistance, an E-collar (which included audible, vibration, and shock settings). I am very concerned about not hurting our dog and I tried each of these with attention and caution. Without going into detail, NONE of these worked. I'm only a pet owner but I've trained 3 Shephards in the past with great results but this guy was different (only as far as leash pulling). On a whim, my wife saw this PetSafe Easy Walk Harness and decided to try it. I immediately assumed it was a waste of money and would end up in the drawer with all the other failed stuff. This harness has both a top (on the back of the dog) leash loop, and a front (chest) leash loop just as the full body harness we have. From the first day, however, we noticed a difference walking him. Very little pulling if at all. We've been using this for a couple of months now and it's still the best thing we found for leash pulling. It provides superior control and we all enjoy the walks! I know different dogs may react differently to leashes, collars, etc., but in our case this simple harness solved a problem we had for more than 4 years.

Best Harness We Have Ever Owned!!
Love this little harness! We have a very dog reactive mini schnauzer who pulls when we use a regular harness. I tried the muzzle version that worked well, but it would cause her beard to mat. Once we started using this harness, she no longer pulls, but walks close by our side. I have started using it in combo with the Cbersmg Dog Bark Deterrent Device, and now we can go on BARK FREE walks! She no longer barks at other dogs because she is calm from the harness and doesn't want to have the button pressed on the anti-barking device. It's a perfect combo!!

Nice but damaged my dog’s armpits bad!
The harness was nice quality and worked well for its intended purpose but it left my dog’s armpits raw! We went for a walk, took a day off from walking then walked the next day and I couldn’t figure out why they kept licking their elbow/armpit and it was because they had been rubbed raw by the harness. The harness was adjusted to fit the them perfectly so I’m not sure why it damaged their skin so bad. I also have two aussies so it had a lot of fluff to fight through before getting to their skin. So they were nice and worked but please be conscious of the potential to damage your dog’s skin, I felt so awful😢

Good as a training tool, not necessarily as a solution
Let me preface this review by saying that this harness is a training tool. It is only as helpful as the handler who uses it. Guardians should understand how and why this harness works before putting it on their dogs. I do see a lot of concern from certain reviewers here about the harness chafing their beloved dogs, which most certainly is an issue with this product. In fact, when I first used this on my rat terrier/pug mix, it did chafe her underarm just a little bit. However, because I knew this was not an uncommon issue, I checked her skin for damage after ever single walk to make sure I would catch any signs early and take the appropriate measures to correct them. Just as a note, I think the chafing may occur more frequently in dogs that don't have thick fur. If you DO find chafing with the Easy Walk, stop use immediately. Do not put it back on your dog until the wounds have healed completely. One thing that really helped was readjusting the harness, which should resemble a sideways T and not a Y. The instructions are useful, and you can use the supplemental tips and diagrams online. I ended up hooking not only the ring of the harness but also the ring of collar to the leash to a) help with the chafing and b) keep the leash off the ground (since rat terriers/pugs are pretty low to begin with, and my dog kept tripping over it). So while the basic function of the harness remains unchanged, when my dog does pull, not all of the force is applied to her underarms -- it is also applied to the back of her neck through the collar. I did not have to do this because the above adjustments worked for my dog, but wrapping soft material (such as fleece or wool) around the underarm portion of the harness is suggested if it continues to chafe, and that seems to solve the problem for most dogs. It looks like this harness may not fit every single dog. Sizing is a bit awkward, and there's not much leeway as far as adjustments go, so that's a con. I can see why some dogs simply can't use it due to their body shape and size. Please make sure that this training tool is a good fit for your dog (literally) before using it -- otherwise, your dog may suffer from injury. As far as the product itself, it works! Granted, my dog was never a constant, persistent puller, though when she does pull (mostly when she sees rabbits), she pulls like a freight train. She responds to training okay, but since my fiance and I take turns walking her around our work schedules, it's hard to keep the training consistent -- I'm more of that "tough love" person than he is, and I can't enforce training if he doesn't do it either. For my dog, the Easy Walk DOES stop the pulling. But going back to the first line in my review, this harness is a training tool, and nothing more. I've gone back to the collar for shorter walks and potty breaks on occasion, and my dog will continue to pull. Thus, the harness does not TEACH your dog to not pull, per se, but it does encourage them not to while it is being used. If you want to teach your dog to not pull, regardless of what equipment you're using to walk them, you need to spend the time and effort to effectively train them. With that said, the Easy Walk is a good training tool -- you just can't rely solely on this to prevent pulling. The best advice I can give is for you to find what works best for your lifestyle and your dog. Sure, there is some criticism for the Easy Walk, but criticism exists for choke/pinch collars, electric collars, regular collars, etc. Take everything people say with a grain of salt because what's effective for their dog may not be for yours. Should you buy the Easy Walk harness? It's up to you. It's reasonably priced, and it worked for me. My dog walks nicely by my side whenever we go out, and I don't feel like I'm choking her if she wants to dash after a rabbit. That doesn't mean it'll work for you, but you won't know until you try it. In conclusion, don't expect it to be an end-all-be-all solution because it's not. Like I said, it's a training tool. If you want to give it a go, just make sure that you fit it correctly and check for chafing. Be responsible and have realistic expectations.
