I know everything has it as an “abundance of caution” these days, but why does this knife have a cancer warning?

I have a couple of Kai Pro knives and don’t remember seeing that warning. It’s probably needed in California where anything with plastic composites (the handle). One thing, though, the steel used in this knife doesn’t hold an edge for very long. You could get something better at that price.

Country of manufacture?

Kai is the parent company of several high end knife producers such as Shun and Kershaw. The Kai Pro is made however in China. For the money, it's not bad. It takes an edge but doesn't hold it. The steel they use is for low end cutlery.

Another bit of phony bs; mentioning japan over and over re the metal, the design, the company history. made in china?

AUS6 steel is a low end stainless. These knives are made in China. However, Kai owns Shun. I have a couple and they are easy to sharpen but don't hold the edge for long. They're worth the $29 apiece I paid for them.
