Works great once paired with a proper TRRS adapter (Windows note)
I bought the V-MODA BoomPro (non-X) because I do not want a dedicated mic on a stand or boom arm, and I wanted to repurpose my Sony WH-1000XM5 instead of buying another gaming headset and adding clutter. Once it is working, the mic is solid for gaming and voice chat, and the inline mute and volume are convenient. The main issue for me was Windows compatibility with the included adapter. It would not work properly on either of my Windows PCs and only worked on my Mac. After a lot of troubleshooting, the only reliable fix was using a dedicated TRRS USB-C adapter. The one that consistently worked for me was the StarTech 5-inch USB-C to 3.5 mm TRRS headset adapter with a 32-bit DAC. I also tried a Creative Sound Blaster Play! 4 USB-C DAC that people recommend, and that still did not solve it. Once I used the proper TRRS adapter, the BoomPro worked fine on Windows. Important clarification: I originally tried the BoomPro X and returned it because it did not work for me. I later learned something else that is worth mentioning for buyers. The BoomPro X’s cardioid mic rejects background noise better, which can be great if you have roommates or a noisy room, but the voice sound quality is noticeably worse in many comparison/review videos. I personally prefer better mic sound and let software (Krisp) handle background noise, but if you need strong noise rejection for voice chat, the BoomPro X may still make sense. Just expect the audio to sound worse. One small tip: adding a cheap foam windscreen helped a lot in Discord. It improved consistent voice pickup and reduced the “choppy” or dropout-like sound my girlfriend and I noticed during testing. Bottom line: the BoomPro is a clean, minimal way to turn compatible headphones into a headset, but do not assume the included adapter will be reliable on every Windows PC. If you are on Windows, budget for a proper TRRS USB-C adapter, and consider a foam windscreen for better voice pickup.

Works great
This thing has been great. It is very difficult for microphones to be loud enough when they are sitting on your desk and your mouth is far away, but with it attached to your headphones it picks up everything and is very clear. Great for voice calls. Now I can use my comfy headphones and have a good mic at the same time.

In-line circuitry sounds like doo-doo.
I bought this boom mic for my SHP9600's. First and foremost, the in-line circuitry (volume control, mute microphone switch, etc) makes this cable sound like doo-doo. I do not recommend this cable for music listening unless, like me, you have the know-how, tools, and materials to bypass this in-line circuitry (fairly easy process). For voice calls and gaming it is not bad. Microphone quality is decent to good, no complaints there. The most annoying thing for me is that the TRS plug that plugs into SHP9600's is not very "tight". Don't get me wrong, it makes a good connection to the headphones, but it swivels!!!! Unless you clip the cable to your shirt, if you move around the microphone swivels into your face/mouth and gets annoying. I really wish they had extended the plastic/rubber molding on the jack so it added some resistance for eliminating swivel. I'm fairly certain this is possible and not doing so is an oversight. -Edit- I bypassed the in-line circuitry. Cable still sounds JUST OK. This is by no means an audiophile grade cable, so don't get ahead of yourself thinking you can have it all (microphone + good sound). I honestly doubt it's even shielded. I digress. I have since also taken some E6000 glue and shaped it onto the plug end so that the glue is even with the top edge of the molded plastic on the plug. This adds JUST ENOUGH resistance so the microphone isn't constantly swinging into my face. Also, the microphone quality is actually pretty decent. For a gaming headset this is a no brainer.

Good product! First one had issues, but replacement works great paired with my Philips SHP9500 headphones.
The audio quality is great and there is no discernible hissing. The cable is braided and feels like a quality cable. It has a 45 degree jack on the end which is also nice. Included is a PC Y-adapter with separate jacks for audio and microphone use. The microphone works well and is easily adjustable. However, I do have one issue with the BoomPro. The in-line volume control/mic mute switch has an issue with the volume control wheel. If the volume wheel isn't turned all the way up, it will only output either left or right channel audio. If you push against the volume control wheel then you'll get stereo audio, but as soon as you stop pushing against it, it will revert back to mono audio. I've registered my product with V-Moda using their easy to use QR code system and have submitted a support ticket. Other than that it seems like a great product that should work well with any headphone that supports a 3.5mm input jack. I'm using my V-Moda BoomPro with the Philips SHP9500 headphones http://amzn.com/B00ENMK1DW. I use them for music, console gaming (Xbox One: I have the Elite controller which has a 3.5mm jack so there is no need for an adapter) and for PC gaming. I will update this review and revise my star rating once the problem has been fixed to my satisfaction. UPDATE: I received an email from V-Moda Customer Service on 12/24/15. They requested that I destroy the product by cutting it up and that I provide pictures as proof of destruction. I emailed them today (12/28/15) and I sent proof, along with my address. They are going to send me a new BoomPro Mic free of charge and I'll update the review once I receive my replacement unit. UPDATE 1/10/16: V-Moda Six Star Service has been great, albeit a bit slow to respond. I guess they had been dealing with illness at the office and my support ticket wasn't transferred to the next person in line. However, the agent I spoke to (David) did come through and I received my replacement unit yesterday 1/09/16. I am happy to report that this unit has none of the volume control issues that my first one did and I am satisfied with how V-Moda rectified the problem. I assume that this was a limited QA/QC issue and I do hope that no other issues arise. So far I am very happy with this product and I will update this review if that changes.

Veio bem embalado e chegou antes do esperado.

I have the original V-Moda Boom Pro. This is a side-grade that I was happy to get as I often game in the same room as my partner. We are only 4 feet apart, and the old mic would pick up her voice unless I set a very high noise gate in Discord. Anything auto/AI noise canceling was hit or miss, as it would decide that her speaking was my speaking. After setting up this mic, ensuring it's within an inch of my mouth, and angling it correctly—wow! She can now yell at her screen and my mic doesn't pick it up at all. The sound quality is a slight step down, but I'm picky about such things and my friends on Discord didn't notice or comment on it.
