30cm USB 2.0 a Power Enhancer Y 1 Female to 2 Male Data Charge Cable Extension Cord

Nice to have for my telescop video cam.

Bought this to power my Firestick 4k on my Panasonic plasma. The TV only had 2 500mA USB ports and this new firestick needs at least 1A USB if you want to power it through the TV which you might not find if your TV is more than 3 seconds old. This power enhancer has been running the firestick with no issues. Now, I don't have to worry about wasting data. When i turn the TV off, the firestick also turns off. So far so good...

This cable is supposed to allow one to get extra power to a USB device by plugging into two USB ports (each rated either 100 or 500 ma max, per USB spec), where only one of the ports is used for data. This should allow one to safely draw up to 1A from the USB bus for a hungry device that may pull over 500ma peak. A big flaw of this product is that the data port is not labeled, and as such there is absolutely no way for one to know which of the two heads to use for data without experimenting. Similar products from other vendors have the data port clearly labeled. This may not adversely affect someone who can use either USB jack for data, but in our case, the data port is specifically designated, and so this products leaves in unnecessary guesswork.

I purchased this Y cable for use with a hard drive and a Nintendo Wii U video game console. The hard drive doesn't have a separate power source and it the Wii U doesn't supply enough power on its own. I tried another Y cable from Amazon and it didn't work. This is the second one I've tried and so far it seems to work. I haven't received any errors from the hard drive. I used the cable from the hard drive and plugged it into the hard drive, and the other end plugged into the Wii U. I had to use an extension USB cable to plug the second cable into an AC/USB charger. It is likely that anyone using this item would need to have an extension cable, so I'm not sure why they made the cable so short. Also, only one cable is for data and only one is for power, but unlike other cables for sale, the cables here are not labeled in any way, so you just have to plug them in and figure it out for yourself. I took away a star for those two drawbacks, but I am still happy with my purchase so far and would recommend this Y cable to anyone who needs to get extra power to a USB device. 4/5 starsIf you found this review helpful, please show some love by clicking the "Yes" button below. very useful and cheap enough! For my folks who need the data input in a specific port number, remember: Black is data +power, and White is power only. Have fun!!!

Not to happy with performance based on reviews. I purchased this because it was stated that both USB males would transfer data. NOT TRUE. I believe I am a fair Amazonian enthusiast who provides fair feedback on all the products I purchase. Very rarely do I ding a product based on performance providing that the description and features of the product is accurate and true. This also includes answers about the product from questions asked by customers. Unfortunately, this product will not transfer data on both sides of the male USB.., only 1 side will.I attempted to hook my 2 computers up via this connector so that both computer can send a signal to my printer, not simultaneously. I was only able to successfully print from one computer. I tried different USB ports on my second computer with the second USB male connector thinking I did not correctly hook it up from the start. STILL NADA!!I am sure this product will perform just fine under other circumstances. However, not this case as ensured it would by the vendor based on a past answer from a customer's question.Hope this helps.
