Image quality is great. Setup is a bit confusing. It came with no brand information, after scouring the documentation and the internet, I found out that this is a Versiton NVR model number VIN-216-128P8.The Good1. Image quality is superb2. Search function for IP cams on the network3. easy to maneuver through interfaceThe Bad1. First and foremost, no automatic backup feature2. Configuration of motion sensors, scheduling and alarms are not very well laid out in the manual. Had to really dig in and play with the features to understand how it works3. The manual is not user friendly4. No brand information anywhere on the box, in the manual, etc. Really had to get creative to find out who makes this thing5.on screen keyboard must be clicked with mouse, meaning you cannot use a basic USB keyboard with it. During configuration this is extremely time consuming. Took the better part of 3 hours to configure 11 cameras, recording schedules, alarm schedules, etc.I think I will be returning it to try something else.

Well. I did return mine. However: seller was very straight and quick to answer questions before I even order it that it may not be 100% compatible with what I got. What I have are high quality Panasonic sw558 3 mp cameras but they are older with old onvif revision. 5 starts because: it's built very very well. The user interface is better than most. I tried with 1.3 mp cameras and it was a flawless plug and play. Wish I could have kept it. But could not.

STRICTLY O.E.M.No manual. Can't find one on internet. BTW>>>> usr; admin pwd: 123456 or 12345678 took a call to the psychic hotline for that one.allegedly has auto find. Out of 20 cameras FOUND ONE.And the ONE is the same model as the FOUR OTHERS IT DIDN'T FIND!! ALL FOSCAM 98XXThe more high end cameras FORGET IT!Bought a 6tb drive... now useless and dvd sata.May OK if you buy whatever cameras are made by XX???XXX

It may be a 8 port but only if 4 of them are BNC connections. I never did get the first 4 ports to see my IP cameras. Had to resort to full IP connection from a POE splitter. Worked well until in it was destroyed by lightening.
