I hit upon purchasing these sturdy S-hooks when I had a typical experience of using a public restroom that didn't provide a purse hook or area space to put my belongings. Typically when that happens, I am trying to hang on to my purse while doing my business which is a major inconvenience. While these seemed pretty long at over 4-inches, they have a slender profile. I was pleasantly surprised that I could slip one in my cosmetic bag (or purse pocket) and whip out to hang over the public stall to hang my purse or coat. If you are concerned that someone will grab your purse over the stall door and steal it, (I've actually had this happen at a ballpark -- someone jumped and grabbed the handle of my purse while it was on a stall hook and stole my purse before I could get out of the stall), you can easily eliminate that possibility by inserting the hook between a crack in the door. This S hook is slender enough to fit in between the door crack and you can hang it on the door hinge or on the door lock itself. It would be impossible for someone to snatch your purse this way. Imagine the convenience of having one of these hooks if you have to use one of those dreaded port-a-potties or needing an extra place to hang a coat in an airport bathroom.If you are one of those women that -- gag! -- put your purse on a public bathroom floor -- which I have seen plenty of times, these are a must for you. I have no doubt there are many women who put their purse on the bathroom floor, then toss it on their counter-tops at home where food is prepared. Originally, I got these hooks for bananas. I just hang the bananas and open up the cupboard and let them hang. And then I found 1 billion other ways to use these hooks. They’re nice and big so they can hold a coat or all the wires you have the plug into everything, the uses are unlimited. I love them. They’re well-made. There’s nothing sharp on them. They’re nice and smooth very strong and keep my life organized.

So many uses!I use these to hold my purse and travel bag on the door inside a bathroom stall when traveling and when a hook is not already provided. If you are concerned about theft, see if you can hang it from elsewhere in the stall or on the sliding lock bar used to keep your door closed.I travel with a portable clothes line. I take a couple of carabiners and these S hooks. Depending on what is available in the hotel room to secure the clothes line, I need one or the other or a combination.I’ve also used it to hold a damp towel on the back of a door that does not have a hook. This is a bit tricky but it works fairly well in a pinch.These are also in my gym bag as the Y has no hooks in the changing room but the curtain rod is very sturdy and can hold the weight of my pool bag.There must be more uses but these alone make them worth the purchase.

These S hooks are great! They are strong and sturdy. I needed them to hang a shade cloth on my patio. I highly recommend!

I use these hooks for tons of stuff. Hanging up clothes, laundry, to hang items off the racks in my garage and lots in my kids rooms; closets & their bathroom. They can't put the towel on the towel bar but they can put in on a hook. I gave them 4 stars only because I wish they were a little thicker, the size is good but a little lighter than I prefer.

Good for larger items

The hooks are strong enough to hold the half moon grill grates. The size of the openings on the hooks fit well on my racks. They have little ball ends that keep things in place until you need to use them. Well made and should last for a long time since the stainless steel seems to be quality made.

These are sturdy enough to display or store recreational equipment. They work well on the sides of 650# capacity wire shelving racks to hold large trail packs or other gear. They also work well for storing stainless frying pans, colanders, mandolines, commercial size cooking utensils, grill skewers, etc., in the pantry.
