This gives you the option to purchase just the bare tool string trimmer and save some money. However, if you don’t already have a second battery, it probably makes sense to purchase the string trimmer with battery as this will be cheaper than buying a battery by itself (although you will end up with 2 chargers).

Gen 2 is a lot better in design.

I had the older version of this weed eater. After 8 years it broke in the middle where the company realized a weakness. So I bought the newer gen 2 still using the 80 volt battery’s. The new one saved me $$, because I didn’t need a charger or batteries. I am happy with this purchase.

Works pretty good

It is easy to use and assemble. This is the 2nd Kobalt 80 volt weedeater I have owned. What I don't like is there is more vibration with this particular weedeater. If the spool is not LOADED PERFECTLY, it will not feed line.
